Quitting before you *THINK* you're getting fired....

I got this odd feeling that the hammers coming down. should I say eff it and quit without knowing for sure...

BTW, the job is $$@ and not what I want to do/$ aint worth it.

I say work one more 40 hour week then quit.
I was in this same position and got the ax about a month after I started to think I might get fired. But not before I worked two 40 hour weeks back toback

if you want to collect unemployment, most states will not give it to you if you quit your previous job. you need to be let go through no fault of your own.

Resign + 2 week notice. Hit up Craigslist or those Employment agencies that find jobs for you. I know people that landed Management jobs as there 2nd afterretail through agencies at a young @!+ age. Just don't walk out and quit, not a good look. If you handled the job for a good couple months or what not...2weeks is nothin.

Why not just keep your job, and go extra hard with lining a new one up? Some money is better than no money.

Yeah cuz jobs are a dime a dozen right now? You sure you want to enter that unknown when you're not even positive you're getting canned?

Why not keep the job you have and look for another one....don't jump ship without something lined up.

just quit my job last sunday. they were playin favorites and givin me 11 hour days and 20 hour weekends. my grades suffered from it and had to leave. i got thefam to back me up tho and im gonna get a new job after winter break.

talk to your parents and see if they can help you. if not, save up some money and start lookin asap.

- ive never understood the logic in quitting before you're fired.....i mean what do you gain from that?

Or, instead of getting EI, quit and file for constructive dismissal (sorry, just wrote an employment law exam this morning, got this stuff fresh in my head...)

But yeah, look for another job, and get out while you can. In my experience, it helps just to settle the differences, and move on as quick as you can.

since when can you get unemployment for getting fired? laid off yes, fired NO.

but in order to collect unemployment, you cant just "get fired" it has to be of no fault by you.

he is a list that will disqualify you.

# Quit without good cause
# Fired for misconduct
# Resigned because of illness (check on disability benefits)
# Left to get married
# Self-employed
# Involved in a labor dispute
# Attending School

so if you quit. you have to have good cause for quitting to get the check. basically, you have to be laid off to get the checks.

and if the job is part-time, forget about unemployment all together.
