ive heard the "G" in the square and compass stands for Golgotha and ive also heard Gate like a star gate. anyone know anything about this?

I couldn't really find a definitive answer (i've seen "God","Geometry" and a few others),but the concensus seems to be that the symbol itself means "Great Architect of the Universe".I didn't see anything about "Golgotha" or "Gate" though.
