Any opinions on this guy? I've liked the look of it but yet to pull the trigger. Jomasshop has it for $225. I think I would try and get a different band ortwo for it.

I already vouched for Authenticwatches.com and I have personally purchased from Jomashop.com with no problem. $2.5k is a big budget for a watch. I can recommend over 10 watches for that price, you need to narrow it down to what kind of watch you want. Dress, divers, classic, casual, tool, racing, etc... Few examples are Breitling Avenger Seawold, Superoacean Heritage, Steelfish, Colt, etc...Originally Posted by Crank Lucas

I would assume 1 bill = $1k. For that price range, again depending on what kind of watch you are looking, I would suggest Hamilton, Tissot or Oris. Although Tag Heuer has plenty of choices for that price too. Hamilton Jazzmasters, Hamilton Field, Oris Artelier, Oris F1, Oris Classic, Tissot Le Locle, Tag Heuer F1, Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Tag Heuer Link, etc...

The aqua terra is pretty dope though.

Upon first glance, I figured 1 bill being $100.

I build the turbofan watches on a very limited basis, perhaps 1-2 pieces per month. This is the first one to use a carbon fiber dial and the only watch using my current batch of prototype blue tinted lume compound.
- 45mm full titanium case, crown and display caseback. Completed watch has been water tested to 5atm.
- A6498 skeleton movement with extensive scrollwork on the bridges, machined gear wheels and blued screws.
- White pilot style hands.
- Panatime carbon fiber grain strap with matched blue stitching.
- CNC machined dial made from 0.25mm thick 2x2 twill carbon fiber sheet finished with a matte clear coat.
- Experimental blue tinted lume applied to dial indexes and green lume applied to 12:00 marker, hands and entire dial back

No problem and thanks for the compliment. Portuguese is like one of those watches that once you have, it seems like you won't need any other one... of course that's just a saying.
On the other hand, a nice photo of the Breitling Avenger Titanium (not mine).

At what price point, if any, do you say, "hey, I better suck it up and buy this one from a brick and mortar retailer" vs buying from a so-called "gray market" online retailer.
So far, I've bought my tissot and hamilton online....but my Tag, Omega, and Breitling I insisted on shopping at Tourneau or other establishment, because at that kind of money I figured, might as well forgo the saving for the piece of mind of the manufacturers warranty.
I'm considering buying the Longines online though as 1245 is a pretty sweet deal.

See that question is complicated. On one hand, I would not expect any problem for a watch that cost that much within the two years it will be covered for the warranty.
But then again, I would be screwed if anything were to happen.
When it comes to complexities like that, I guess that is when I will compare the price I save compared to the dealer and if for that chance that the watch does break, is the discount from the AD enough to get the watch itself fixed?
However, I know there will be a few watches I would go gray market for is the discount is big enough. Example, the Daytona. If I see that for 50% (yeah I know, I am dreaming) off, I would jump on that. Even though it is not a complicated movement, Rolex is one of those watches that is best when handled by Rolex watch experts.
However, when it comes to a close knit companies, it is still a tough one like Hublot. Check this story out, it happened a month or so ago.
This one guys wife purchased a Hublot for his birthday or wedding anniversary. Not part of the watch fell off, I believe part of the dial so he returned it to an AD and the AD gave him a new one.
That same watches part fell off again and returned it to the AD. In his frustration, he posted at Timezone and the CEO of Hublot itself read it and personally guaranteed him a new and perfect watch and as a part of great customer service, he gave his wife a free Hublot Big Bang, a watch that retails for $10k-$15k. A service like that is almost unimaginable. The Hublot CEO also keeps an eye on the Hublot Forum at TZ and for everyone that posts a new Hublot purchase, he gives them a personal hand written warranty good up to 2015. That kind of close knit service is just priceless.
