Unpopular Opinion:

Rarely will I call a movie trash. Some great, good, some not so much. Never trash

I always find some kinda entertainment in a movie

Pootie Tang >>>

Or maybe I just erase the real garbage ones outta my mind :lol

That captain America 2 though :eek
That Super Bowl trailer was :hat

It has the potential to be Marvels best movie to date.

Captain America 1 was meh to me with Thor 1 being worse. Thor 2 was awesome though

Cap 1 was my favorite pre-Avenger movie. The origin was perfect and the story that followed. The only thing that was somewhat disappointing was Red Skull.

Same I like the first cap
I liked red skull
I'm anticipating them bringing him back soon
Thor was also good
I honestly didn't expect it to be good so it exceeded my expectations
Need to see Thor 2 though

That's the thing. You can't say the movie is good when the villain was almost not even in the movie. The final scene was such a let down. Like half the movie was good, the other was just a fast forward take to the end

The red skull is a behind the scenes villian though anyway

IMO, the final scene was powerful. Although my only problem was Red Skull, I don't see what else they could've done with him.

Have more screen time, develop him into a "likable" character (like the joker in DK), turn him into something someone cares about. They just threw him in and almost forgot about him. When a film does nothing with a character and the character dies (or whatever happened to him), nobody cares. The problem with that is that he's freaken caps main bad guy :{

He ain't really a fighter more of a manipulator
Seeks world domination
But with him being transported to another world I think we see him in avengers
Maybe a team up with thanos
Or maybe we see in the end credit scene he is the real person behind the creation of the winter soldier
If they do in fact keep it with the comics and its his friend who died in the first one

The red skull is NEVER a person u could care about
They make him that unlikable in the comics
Dude was a nazi
How can u make that likable

The joker is a mass murderer with clown paint on, jack Nicholson on the departed was a drug dealing mob boss, you don't have to be a hero to be "likable".

Yeah there isn't anything you could do to make him likeable.

You're not suppose to like the Red Skull :lol He represents hatred in nazi form. It's no different if Cap had an enemy that was in the clan. Red Skull doesn't have that edge to him that Joker has where you could at least enjoy his presence before he goes crazy and murders ppl. He's the master planning kill all the impure, I'll rule the world type. That's how you write him.

FTR, the majority of Cap's villains suck so you were never getting a great list to draw from in the first place. You'd be better off making him fight groups (Hydra, AIM, Serpent Society, etc.) and the most interesting one out of all them is least used anyway, Ultimatum.

Red Skull is basically the same person they turned Sebastian Shaw in to in First Class. A nazi, that kills his own, moves on to be opportunistic and try to ride that mutant vs. human wave until a real down for the cause (Magneto) outs him and kills.

There are no comic book stories where you say "Ah, the Red Skull has a good point there, maybe he is right." If you do, you got a problem.

Whoever said principal Grier> fancy was on point. Shes even sexier now than before.

Whoever on NT that recommended
American Psycho
Big Lewbowski
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

Yall did me a disservice.

In The Departed, he's a regular human being. Plenty ppl love all those mob and criminal flicks cuz the character is written as likeable, even when they're a bit racist. Cuz in some sense or the other they represent that coming from nothing and being boss theme.

The Joker has an edge to him, he can actually be funny. That kind of insanity is compelling when written well.

None of those guys are down for a holocaust.

I think you're just missing a key component to what makes the Red Skull, the Red Skull. He's closer to evil than these other bad guys.

So do you or do you not think the red skull was written to his potential? To me he was not. He was a half hearted, watered down to nothing villain. Didn't come off as super evil, just meh

I personally don't think much else could've been done with the way they did it. He would've worked better if the film had two villains. Have Cap fight Strucker or Zemo under the control of Red Skull. As Cap defeats that villain, at the end of the film, he could've found out that the Red Skull was behind everything and whatever, then he takes his face off, and they have one big fight scene, in which the Red Skill seemingly wins.

I don't think he was written to his potential villainy that he's commonly known for but the last thing I would've wanted was for him to be written as likeable. Truthfully, I didn't love the Cap movie much or like it much. I was indifferent to it, it was just okay. I had problems with the origin and what was left out but not a whole lot of problem with RS.

All they had to do was just raise his threat level a bit more but given the setting and time, they're not gonna have him off some Jews like this is Schindler's List or the Pianist. So short of a monologue about nazi superiority there wasn't much they can do to truly show what kind of evil villain he actually is. That's probably the key difference, if Cap came out in the 40s, 50s, or 60s it'd probably make a billion cause that was just the atmosphere of the time, a lot of stuff goes without saying. Patriotism and all that.

That's some of the problems with making villains based off of real atrocities, can't go having nazis and klansmen running around fighting Cap or it'd go straight to rated R.

As for the other villain idea, they should've had Cap fight Master Man, nazi version of a super soldier (maybe even make him cause Bucky to fall off the train) and die horribly before Cap defeats Red Skull.
