I've heard crazy things bout the persistence of these guys and want to hear some stories. My only experience is a recruiter calling my house at 9 and mymom picking up the phone in shock. She told em I'd call them back but threw the # away. I was asleep during this.

when i recruited, parents were the worst. they'd be in overly protective mode and not tell their kid we called, or just hang up. i always told themit's easier if the kid tells us he/she was not interested, 'cause we had to continue to call until we reach that kid and marked him off ourlist..............................yes i said LIST.

back when i was in high school, this dude i knew was joining the marines..so he gets the bright idea to tell the recruiter that he should talk to me..this isat lunch..i see the recruiter coming towards my table..so i get up and start walking away trying to dodge him..end up getting cornered by two marines trying torecruit me..even after i said im not interested..but he still insisted on sitting me down trying to get me to join

then i was going up to my admissions building to change my major..marine rolls up beside me in a damn car..i said im not interested..dude starts driving slowlybeside trying to get me to join..so i give him my info..and hes talking about meeting up with me and junk..he ended up calling my house a bunch of times..ipick up the phone one day..tell him we can meet up the next day..next day comes..he calls to make sure we're still gonna meet up..i said

The guy called and i had no idea who it was so answered his first couple of questions and before i knew it he was a recruiter. At that point i kindly told himi wasnt interested. and that was it.

I remember one called and I told him I wasnt interested and was more than polite about it, saying "no thank you, i'm not interested" andexplaining to him that my college was going to be paid for through other means. And anyways, after explaining this a number of times he kept talking about howwhat I would gain or needed from them etc... I just hung up. I figured I was perfectly polite and explained that wasn't interested etc.. and dudewouldn't give up. Anyhow, about minute later dude calls again and explains to my Mom who'd be sitting there listening to me say "no thank you,i'm not interested" that I was an ungreatful child and that I need the army for like discipline, etc. and that I just gave up my chance to go tocollege and my Mom was like if you ever call this house again she would see to it that dude would be fired for being super overbearing and rude...

some recruiters are way persistent 'cause they got quotas to meet by the end of the month. some branches of the military are pushier then others i.e.marines. just let the cats know you ain't interested, and don't give in to a interview unless you plan on actually sitting down with a recruiter to seewhat they got to offer.

some dude called and asked me about my GPA and what i was doing after graduating. I told him i had a 3.6 and 2190 SATs. He then proceeds to ask me whether ihave thought about joining the army and how they can pay for my school. I told him that I wasn't interested. He then kept asking me why. I told him i havethe money already to pay for school.... anyways i he kept trying to convince me. After a while he said something about patriotism and I went off and told himthat I bet he had no patriotism and that he was probably dumb as #$%# in school and joined the army because he didnt have #$%# else to do and how he justwanted me to join so that he can get a higher rank and get paid 35000 instead of 30000 a year.... then i hung up and he called back but didnt answer

yes, you will continue to get calls from all branches for about five or six years straight. we hit you up when you start your jr. year in high school, all the way up to you finish college. that is if we can get your number from your parents.

They have to make a certain number each month, if they dont, they can get in a lot of trouble. I had been recruited since i was a High School Freshman.

man a few months ago i was thinking bout joining the Marines. i went in, talked to a recruiter. The next day i went back to talk to him and he already had myboot camp day picked out and had planned a trip for me to go to Tampa to take the oath that weekend. i was like F that. he didnt even give me time to think itover. i ignored all the phone calls and havent talked to him since

No Child Left Behind Act Section 9528 grants the Pentagon access to directories with students names, addresses, email addresses, cell phone numbers, ethnicities, social security numbers, extracurricular activities, and areas of study so that they may be more easily contacted and recruited for military service.

when i use to work at best buy they would target me young hispanic in early 20's, and all they would talk about would be is we pay for your school, and iwould be like no thank you my parents are taking care of that plus im already halfway through college, sorry dont need your money! just tell it how it is andthey will leave you alone!

they would call me nonstop. i tried to be polite with letting them know im not interested but they couldnt take a hint. one time i just hung up on the dude, and i guess he thought the phone cut off so 15 minutes later he shows up at my house. they found out i was jamaican so they got some jamaican dude to call me,i guess they thought that would some how make me get interested...? o.O; they stopped calling for a while though after my mom cussed them out

I dont know anything about how you end up on the LIST etc, but i do know that a bunch of my friends who werent exactly the smartest, and didnt do well inschool were constantly approached and contacted about enlisting.

On the other hand, with the exception of the generic attempt when i walked by, i was never contacted. I always did well in school and stayed out of trouble forthe most part.

All im sayin is it seemed to me that they targeted the less "successful" kids and were relentless about it.

lol that is a joke. Who in there right mind would join the army? lol Why don't they recruit the "Gangsters" and other hoodlum Ninjas runningaround shooting people. Instead of recruiting some fragile innocent kid and turning him in to a monster.

I remember one day about a year and a half ago my dad told me to get the phone. This random person starts asking me how I am doing, some random white guy...soI respond and I say I am fine. I still have no clue who this man is, or what he wants. He starts asking me about what I like to do...so I randomly said music, basketball and videogames. So, needless to say, this man happened to be kinda knowledgable in gaming, so we kinda got into a random discussion about Halo orsomething. So I guess he totally forgot what he was doing, and I still had no idea who the%%%% he was, randomly outta left field, dude comes out and says,"So, have you ever thought about joining the army?" I gave him a
