\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

I got a neighbor who's wife just passed.

He's selling a 2010 BMW 750LI and he took it to carmax to try and sell it but they only offered him 8K.

Dude is a doctor and he's always taken great care of it and it has 82K on the dash.

He will sell it to me for that 8K and I'm debating it.

Am I crazy or nah? I've never owned a BMW so what am I looking at in maintenance?

You want to buy a decade old bmw 7 series for $8k...Like is there no other car you can buy?

Don't buy it. Those 7 series have some of the biggest depreciation of any BMW. And while 8k seems like a great price for a luxury sedan, you will get absolutely hammered when you need repairs (and you will). Absolutely not worth it, stay away.

I thought the 750 was a V12, but it seems it's a twin turbo V8. I still would not buy it if I were you.

I know a guy who sells Toyota's in houston. He went from making 80k a year to 150k. Rented a downtown high rise for 5k a month, his living expenses skyrocketed. Bottle service every night etc.

The rude awakening will come when these guys start defaulting and the market crumbles because of it.

He’s gonna learn. :lol

150k is nice but I wouldn’t even be comfortable spending 5k a month on a mortgage let alone rent at 150k.

Speaking of cheap luxury cars. My boy HAD to have the w12 phaeton. That pos hasn’t ran in years and mechanics refuse to work on it. Even the best German shop here who builds anything said no because they can’t take his money in good conscience to fix that pos.

That....was an interesting concept. The issue was the over complication of its engineering combined with a mixture of cheap parts. The Golf IV W8 that never saw production was a nightmare from an engineering POV.

Yeah it’s a disaster engineering wise.

The motorized trunk malfunctioned and opened the wrong was so far it busted the rear windshield. Of course you can’t find another either.

We told him not to buy it but he refused to listen. I love vw but they do some straight trash sometimes.

Just stick to the gti.

Didnt even know Maserati had another SUV. Looked up the Grecale and man....it looks so goofy in the front. Doesnt look aggressive or sharp, sporty, looks “soft”. Headlight design contributes to that alot.

Levante looks a tom better.

The problem is Alfa had to share this platform/hardpoints with Jeep and Dodge for their upcoming counterparts.

Not a recipe for sublime design execution when Stellantis is looking for pennies in its couch to pay for electrification platforms.

With non sticky tires 🤔… think I should sell my Z now so I can speed up the saving

I love the VR30DDTT-its absolutely one of the finest modern V6s on sale today.

The issue is going to be the turbos for the modification crowd which are extremely limiting to mod because of the design.

Nissan threw up its hands trying to get upgraded for use in an updated GT-R to pass emission regulations in the EU market. But a fine engine for this class.

Thanks!

This is my 2nd Stelvio. The first one was the 4 banger 2l model. Abosultely no problems with that one. Liked it so much I had to upgrade to the high HP trim. Same, no issues at all. Alfa hasn't been able to shake its reliability reputation from the 80s/90s. When they first came back to the states with the Giulia/Stelvio, some issues were reported as is common with most 1st year model cars.

From being in several Alfa groups, message boards it is certain that most of the issues reported are caused by poor transportation practices by Alfa. On its voyage to the states from Italy, the battery posts arent well protected and may lead to slight corrosion. Which in turn leads to random CEL. Giulias/Stelvios in Europe do not suffer from this. In short, if anyone gets an Alfa. Get the battery posts cleaned and or a new battery and you will not have any more issues than any other Euro car.

Oh wow, I had no idea a bulk of that bad rap comes from dirty battery posts. Learn something new everyday 👍 . Has Alfa done anything to address this issue? Your Stelvio is dope. Don't see much of Alfa around my way- a Giulia or two here & there but I've never seen a Stelvio in person.

had an appointment at a dealership for 5pm, and when i got there they told me the car was sold an hour prior smh

I'm sorry they wasted your time. A good salesperson who actually cares about their clients would have called to at least say it was being looked at and to warm you it could be sold before you arrive (to give you the opportunity to still drive or decline). In today's climate, a lot of places won't take deposits to simply hold a car for you to arrive to view it. I know I would have called my client about it to give them the heads up (and I have done that plenty of times in the past).

Everything is too expensive right now but I think eventually I’ll get a GT350R. I wouldn’t spend more than $150k for a car so exotics are out of the question for me.

I got $39k for it

Have you seen what low mileage GT350R have been selling for lately. If it's a really low mileage example they can get to be more then original MSRP. Saw one went for $90K. Then one with 10K was a lot more reasonable in the low $70K range. Your a Mustang guy, so you know to do your due diligence in regards to the Voodoo motor. Very finicky. Any questions, let me know (being I sold them for their entire life span). 👍

He should take it to a local BMW dealer as they will give him top dollar. If he needs to sell it due to his wife's passing (maybe needs some money for expenses) I would definitely tell him that is a better option than going to CarMax.

Another option is to show him Bring a Trailer. If it's as nice as you say, and he has service history documenting it (all his receipts) he can get real good money for it. Just checked the site and a 2000 Li with 87K did $16,900. His being 10 years newer and similar mileage, will increase the value. If he just wants it gone, then I can see just going to CarMax.

But honestly, knowing what it's probably really worth (which is more than the 8K offer) I just couldn't take it off his hands for that. I just wouldn't feel right. But that's just me. Truthfully, have him take it to the closest BMW dealer (or two of them if they're close to each other) and see what they would give. It's always higher from the dealer of the brand your selling. Good luck.

Damn that sucks! Waste of your time, $ & gas. Did they try & show you a different or something similar- aka the classic "bait & switch" tactic. Honestly **** dealerships- such disgusting etiquette. I remember 3 years ago when my younger brother was shopping for a new car he saw a listing for an Acura sedan in New Jersey.

I drove em down there(decent 1 to 1 1/2 hour trip from NYC depending on traffic which is usually a nightmare + toll + gas) & when we get there firstly NO ONE greeted us for a good 10-15 minutes & when the ***** finally came around she's like "oh, so sorry, we sold the Acura weeks ago BUT allow me to show you guys around" basically baited us to get inside the dealership & switched up the available cars when we got there :smh: . Tried selling my brother a Scat Pack Challenger  & my bro was like we already have one of those & we walked out.

Yeah but that 2000 was an E38...WAY, WAY, WAAAAAAAY more desirable than the F01/F02.

Depreciation and repairs on those cars are no joke. He can buy it for $8,000, but he is going to get some expensive bills in the next couple years. And then when he goes to sell it I can almost guarantee it would be a tough sell for anything over 10k.

You should tell him he better be prepared to pay. That car does stupid moonshot numbers lately. A price that I just can't agree with (with just how old the car is and the kind of power it has).

Oh he knows.

You know why the car is worth what it is now, def not cause of the power. Car is a straight up legend.

i'm not too upset, if it was in fact an hour before i showed up. if it was earlier in the day or the day before, that's super ****** on their end. i'll give them the benefit of the doubt, since there isn't anything i can do about it anyway.

hell naw. took forever for someone to even greet me. when the salesman finally approached and i told him my name he seemed surprised like he had no idea why i was there. i was supposed to have my car appraised too, but he didnt even bother to ask if i still wanted it done or to check out another car. when he told me they sold the car, he proceeded to lie about having the same watch and same strap. 100% assuming he lied based on the vibe he was giving off and his lack of professionalism. i was also wearing a vintage Submariner on an Everest band, so i HIGHLY doubt we have the same watch since he only glanced at it. i walked away before he finished bull****ting.
