I kind of have the same feeling. I bought it off Mr. Porter on their UK site. When it arrived, I opened the box and it was missing the plastic bags and it looked as if someone had worn them. On the beige sticker where it is supposed to have my name, there was some other dudes name so I knew I received a pair of returned shoes. What are the chances of that dude swapping out the shoes for a really good fake pair? Oddly it measures shorter than all of my other arenas and some of the stitchings feel off. I really had nothing to compare it to at the time since it was my first pair of Balenciaga Arenas, until I bought one from a retailer and noticed some few alarming differences. Should I hit up Mr. Porter and tell them? Its already been a few weeks since I purchased it though, so I don't know if they would give me a refund.I'm gonna venture on the side of fake.
UPDATE:
Just spoke with a Mr. Porter representative. They told me they have a "premier team of experts who specializes in checking the authenticity of a product" and advised I return the product so they cantake a look at it.
