I will try to make this as short as possible.
My mother had a stroke about a decade ago, she is semi paralyzed on the left side of her body. My mother emigrated here from another country in her 20s and her English still isn’t fluent, and she barely knows how to work a phone. Her and my dad were separated when I was young, she was a single mother raising my sister and I. My father wants nothing to do with her. She is currently living in the basement of a house with random people, me and my sister are paying the rent. She has no friends or anyone who can assist her. She can’t/won’t work, she has tried to apply for disability, but apparently they denied it, which is irritating because she is obviously disabled, maybe the paperwork was filled out wrong, not sure. I am thousands of miles away from her and see her maybe once a year, causing it to be extremely hard for her to do it by herself because she can barely speak English, and it’s difficult for me to help over the phone. To sum it up, im basically trying to see if anyone can point me in the right direction on how I can get her help, the next step is to have her move in with me. I am thinking about starting a Gofund Me, but I don’t know if it will raise any money. She is currently living in the state of Maryland.
There is a lot more details to my story, which is causing her a lot more stress but I just want to get the point across on how to get her help.
I currently DO NOT live in the US and wont be for the next 3 years.
Please any advice is appreciated.
