Im coming in 7 pages late so idk if its been covered but the number one thing that grids my gears is when your playing hustle or whatever on a half court and people dont take the ball back if you miss the rim. Instead they put it back for a wide open lay up. Like no, the point of taking the ball back is to simulate a full court game. If you airball it on a full court you dont get to put the ball back up on the same damn hoop. How the hell this rule came about is beyond me.

I never understood this. My whole life I've played you airball, don't need to take it back, you get the ball stolen, defender doesn't need to take it back, you get blocked same deal. Simple logic to stop that wide open lay up....don't throw up an air ball.
Around me, you take everything back being the 3 point line in a half court game.

I also play sunday mornings at my old CYO gym. We play with And 1's. If you call foul, but make the shot, it counts. On the playground, And 1 is not a call. and if you call foul and the ball goes in, it doesn't count.

You can get away with that 1 or 2 times but after that...... fights start to happen. Especially if you play with guys with #%#%^@s   That stuff works when got one team thats "harder" or more thuggish than the other team but when you got 2 even teams with pride that stuff doesnt fly..... Dudes start acting real #$@%@- %#*
If there are guys going for uncontested potential game winning layups multiple times in a game, or hell even in a day, then there is a problem

I have never had any situation where fights have started over that.here

Why?

I live out there.  That's just how my game is.

If you're talking shot quantity, I agree.

I feel like it cheapens the game.

It's incredibly boring to play in a game thats only some kid bringing the ball up and pulling up from 3.

Now if you hang out near the line, someone drives and kicks it out to you for an open 3, I have no problem with that.  It's the iso 3's that bother me.

Ive noticed the quantity of 3s taken in pick up games is much more than it used to be.  Kids these days only know how to shoot behind the line or lay the ball up.  Thats it.  A couple af months ago I saw a game to 11 in which 18 3's were taken.  Thats absurd.

I guess different people play differently. I have always played with the fact that if you steal the ball no need to take it back, if you get a airball rebound no need to take it back etc. It's like rewarding the defense. Also where I play you call foul ball goes in doesn't count. Just playground style I guess.
