Percy Harvin/Oakland Raiders

Bigmike was the biggest DeSean hater before the draft

I think Harvin will be a great pro, but the Raiders have other places to address. But, it is an Al Davis pick, so I could definitely see it happen.

Speed means NOTHING if your QB cant get the ball to him.

JaMarcus needs a pass catching TE to check down to.
Umm... Zach Miller? Outside of a few drops, he's been everything you could want in a TE and more.

I just hope they get rid of Walker somehow and if Curry wants out, let him go too. I'd much rather have a slew of young WR's that work hard every weekthan Mrs. Walker and Stonehands Curry.

I'm really stoked to see what Henderson can do against Gaines Adams tomorrow too. That was one of the worst mistakes not giving him game time this year. When Kiff was still here he let him play in the Buffalo game and the SD game and he looked good. Since Kwame was a Cable/Davis guy and had the bigger contracthe got the nods the rest of the year. 1,000 false starts and holds later Henderson gets back in. I mean Cable went from praising Henderson after the Miamigame, to criticizing him a day later "after he watched the tape." NO CABLE, after Uncle Al told you to keep Kwame the starter.

That would be awesome though if Henderson is able to take the next step and become a starting LT. If thats the case I'm trading down and getting a RT, DT,and DE in the late 1st, early 2nds.

But all of this is mute if Al doesn't hire a friggin GM and LET HIM DO HIS JOB. We also need a new offensive coordinator if Cable is to stay and if RobRyan is to stay he has to be given leyway on what to do with the defense. Al HAS to take a step back for the 1st time. He HAS TO.

As long as this guy gets his route running down, he will be effective at the next level...dude has lights out speed and all he needs to do is get a couple ofcatches a game to be truly effective

His talent/ability are there but the real question is his durability and thats why teams are probably goin to pass on him in the 1st/2nd round

Percy runs good enough routes right now.

No one's gonna pass on Percy. He's gonna run sub 4.3 at the Combine/Pro Day. and he is extremely strong. that plus his game film, getshim in top 15.

Percy aint been 175 lbs since High School. DeSean played his Jr yr in college at 170.
Percy's Freshman yr he was at 180.
He's at 200 rite now.
Its hard for people picture a 5'11 ft 200 lb WR running that fast with the stop and starts that he has. so I see why people may think his build is likeDeSean's. Percy can get it done from the Backfield, Split End, or Slot.
He is every bit a difference maker that Reggie Bush was at USC. just that he's listed at WR and not RB.

I'd rather see the Raiders get Crabtree tho. That would be a real nice fit with Jamarcus.
Deep threat with size who can also turn short passes into Long Tubs

for the record djack was listed at 6 foot 175 pounds his last year at cal. harvin ant touching 6 foot if u ask me

Maybe for the Holiday bowl or something, I'm almost certain that he was listed as 165 in all Cal Bears publications...I saw dude in person multiple timesthroughout his career at Cal, he was a legit 165 pounds, if that his first two seasons. Desean also put on 7-8 pounds of muscle leading up to the draft lastyear. Either way, I doubt size will be a problem for Harvin (it hasn't been for Jackson), son is jacked with great strength pound for pound.

I agree for the most part, Curry's production has been poor especially as of late but lets give credit where credit is due, Curry is as hardworking asanybody in the NFL, dude has gained my respect during his time here. You don't come back after multiple achilles tendon tears withoutputting in work.

All true, I've give up on Al. He's always been a tyrant but progressively started to loose his mind (literally) years ago. I hate to say something likethis but we need him gone and right now the greatest chance we have of getting him to step down or at least seriously reduce his role is for him to haveanother serious health issue. No matter what changes we make we won't win with Al leading the organization.

so does every wr have to be 6 ft?

Percy Harvin is 5'11 190. Desean was 6 169 when he got weighed at the combine. You can't compare the two.

The Raiders don't need a luxury player like Harvin. He's a great accessory for a team needs some speed. The Raiders need some offensive linemen andmaybe a big reliable target at the WR, like a Crabtree. A TE they can find that in the latter rounds or even through free agency.

I'm interested in seeing how he develops as a WR on the next level.

Imagine running the wild-radier at times w/ Percy and D-Mac.

Too small for the NFL
Mesean Jackson would like to have a word with you.

Y'all don't realize that Percy is like 5'11-6'0 200 ?

At you acting like JLH hasn't been solid for the Raiders. Dude has 3 punt returns for TD's this season. Name me one player in NFL history with more.

Bottom line is that he is the furthest thing the Raiders need.

This might as well turn into the Raiders Official game thread, most of us are in here anyway

at dude on CBS , "there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel for the Raiders"

He's right though..

there hasn't been reason to feel this optimistic about the squad all season (testament as to how rough it's been). We have afew pieces, there's no denying that.

Some of these statistics are horrible though,

44 straight failed conversions on 3rd and 10?

31st in red zone scoring?

i just hope we pull this one out, a seven nothing lead at half time sure as hell aint a security blanket with our inability to close games.

The Bucs officially lifted up their skirts a couple of weeks ago though, they've been frauds in my eyes since they got absolutely handled by Carolina.

so he's a really good returner.... Percy Harvin has never run back kicks for the Gators.
What has he done in terms of being an actual receiver? NOTHING.
laugh.gif

Plus everyone can name you one, Devin Hester, ring a bell....?

Percy Harvin is not a return specialist.
maybe thats where you're confused.
Percy is an offensive machine. Higgins and Harvin are nowhere near the same player.
Higgins has straight line speed.
Harvin, the entire package

Fam, I understand that. But I think you and others are mistaking me for saying HIGGINS > HARVIN.
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that the Raiders would be making a horrible mistake if they drafted Harvin when they have
pertinent needs on both lines of the ball. Harvin may turn out to be twice as good as Higgins.

But to defend my dude Higgins, he has been coming on as a WR as of late. Caught a TD pass last week. Caught a nice pass in today's game.
He's crucial on special teams. I was surprised when I found out not even the GREAT Devin Hester has more Punt Return TD's than JLH.

Harvin would be a better fit for a team that has another top notch receiver. I see him as a guy you design plays for to get him the ball in space, whether itbe a reverse or a screen or something like that. Those are great, but on 3rd downs and in the red zone is where I don't think he's going to be asvaluable as a guy like Crabtree or Hicks. I could be wrong though, and I haven't watched enough of the Raiders to tell you what their exact needs are.

Some of you are writing him off as a scrub, Higgins has show he can make plays as a WR when given consistent playing time and good deliveries from Jamarcus. He's not a feature WR by any means but in the long term after we acquire a true number 1 and a solid number 2 I would be more than satisfied with Higginsas a lot WR.

As far as us actually drafting Harvin, I want no part of him if we have to use a first round pick but if he somehow slips through and he's available latein the second or early in the third we would be foolish not take a player with his physical ability.

I definitely meant to say "more than one", but it's all good. You get what I'm trying to say.
JLH has been solid and Harvin would be another ruined career if drafted by Oakland.

He would not be a good fit at all. He'd be more solid in an powerful, open offense. Far cry from what the Raiders have.

honestly i can see Percy having the same struggles that Reginald has had the first couple years.
but there is no way the raiders should take him, i think we've all learned from the lions that always drafting skill players is a recipe for failure.
