It took them that long to sue Payless and more importantly SMH at Payless for still making those shoes if they were. Remember buying a pair back in the'90's to skate in because they were cheap along with the knock-off Vans for $5. The fake Vans were okay but the fake adidas were awful with theireraser-like soles and toecaps.
From what I heard Converse might own the copyright for 5 pointed stars on shoes which is why DC used to have a 5 pointed star in their logo but switched to a 6pointed one later.
Not to mention the countless other shoes that are adidas copies with varying amounts of stripes or stripe-like marks which could be targeted by adidas as well.
Most definitely targeting Payless for cheapening up their image.
