Payless to pay adidas $305 million

It took them that long to sue Payless and more importantly SMH at Payless for still making those shoes if they were. Remember buying a pair back in the'90's to skate in because they were cheap along with the knock-off Vans for $5. The fake Vans were okay but the fake adidas were awful with theireraser-like soles and toecaps.

From what I heard Converse might own the copyright for 5 pointed stars on shoes which is why DC used to have a 5 pointed star in their logo but switched to a 6pointed one later.

Not to mention the countless other shoes that are adidas copies with varying amounts of stripes or stripe-like marks which could be targeted by adidas as well.

Most definitely targeting Payless for cheapening up their image.

Anyone remember "Randy" skate shoes? they predated Vans by a couple years (1959?) and Vans is from what I can tell a knock off of them...

Man, if this becomes trend, all of our beloved shoe-dome may come crumbling down around us. Almost everything looks like or is an off-spin of something elsethese days. Few original ideas abound, even among the "originators." For instance, Nike continues to regrind and mish-mash its old shoes such as thedunk, vandal, and blazer to simply create something called the santa clarita. If knock-off ideas are now having to pay 305M, Bape, Greedy Genius, Undrcrwn,Creative Recreation, etc. and on and on had better watch themselves. Maybe now is the time we'll finally see some better ideas and concepts---or trulyhorrid ones.....

i've never actually seen the payless versions, but if the stripes have the zig-zag pattern on the edge of the stripes, then i'd say it;s a blatantrip-off. if you look closely. adidas stripes aren;t simple straight stripes. they actually have the zig-zag cut pattern.

Is this the first time this has happened. I remember knock-offs like stadia, trax, athletics, and pro-wings. None of these companies got sued? I remeberthese shoes from the 80s.
