Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I watched 12 Angry Men last night.

That move is excellent. They definitely don't make them like that anymore.

On another note, a few of my friends and myself have started writing down and making a record of every film that we watch for the year.
I honestly have no intention of seeing 12 angry men since it's so old, but what did you like about it?
Also why are you making a record of the movies that you watch?
If you need an easier way to keep track of the movies that you've watched, use imdb.com to make a watchlist.

You should change that mentality if you can. It's such a brilliant film. From the dialogue, to the cinematography, to the sense of tension that is built up solely from watching men in a room talk. The character development is brilliant too. Just an excellent film.

Just making a record so that I can remember what I've seen and make recommendations to others easier. I wish I had done it from an earlier age. I think it would be cool to have a list of every film that I've ever seen.

I had no idea I could do that with IMDB, I'm gonna look into it. Thanks.

In other news, I just got done watching The Last Stand with Arnie. That was great.

12 angry men isn't even a slow movie. Everyone should watch it once

Which one? The 90's one with Jack Lemmon or the 1957 one with Henry Fonda? Both are great.

Speaking of Jack Lemmon, reminded me of Ving Rhames - when he gave his fellow nominee Lemmon the Golden Globe he won.

Did he know he got his nick name Ving (full name Irving) from Stanley Tucci when they were at drama school together?

That's like saying I watched Scary Movie 5, comedies are stupid. There are certain things you should know better going into it. If you don't generally like horror, why would you watch a PG13 horror flick?

I was going to see it just for the Chastain.. But then I realized the Kingslayer is in it too :hat

I've had a constant boner for Alice Eve for like 3 years now. 8)

As for Five Minutes In Heaven.... Awesome. Acting was great, the guy who played Joe was awesome, in the Hobbit I see? Liam was tremendous. you really believed their characters. Tense the entire way.

I watched the 57 one in a law class back in high school remember enjoying it and I wasn't really into film back then. The King of the Hill spoof is great too with the lawn mower lulz.

I watched Jack Reacher, the Tom Cruise action-looking movie from last year. It's this noir whodunit, with a wisecracking badass private eye at the heart of it. A damsel in distress. Shady characters all around. I expected a generic action movie, and this isn't that. You know a movie surprised you with how good it is, when you put it on in the background and 5 minutes later have to turn it off, cuz you wanna pay closer attention.

It starts as this artistic, haunting crime film. One of the best openings to anything I saw last year...and then Tom Cruise shows up. :lol A part of me really wanted variant Sidney Poitier to stay as the lead, because it turns into more of a regular movie once Cruise gets there. They wrote a badass, sarcastic, funny character. And Cruise can do action and be kinda humorous, but he doesn't always sell the punchlines and he can't stop being Tom Cruise. And that's fine, because it's a well written part and he can do the action.

I think this didn't get hype, because everyone was over Tom Cruise, the title is terrible and generic as all hell and this looked generic as all hell. And if I remember right, this came out not too long after Newtown, when this was exactly the kinda thing most people weren't in the mood for... I really liked it, though. It's really well directed. The fights were memorable. There's a damn good chase scene. And it just had it's own style and rules. It reminded me of A History of Violence. It's just a classy movie. I mean, they knew how to keep Rosamund Pike's chest front and center at all times.

I hope they make another one.

Interesting. Thing is none of del Toro's work has really appealed to me, but Steven Thompson being a part of it is exciting.

Some of those Empire Strike Back pictures. :eek :eek Some real classics in there, can't believe most of them have been hidden for so long.

Anyone seen Pain & Gain? I know it has a low 40% type score on Rotten Tomatoes, but maybe someone has a differing opinion, sort of how we're hearing some buzz about Jack Reacher.

To me if Del Toro is mining the source material when writing the pilot and outlining a season and directing here and there his stamp won't really be on it, Urasawa's will and it will be amazingly great because of that.

Pain & Gain imo is the type of movies Bay should stick to. That and Bad Boys type films but a movie like Pain & Gain just isn't something you go see in theaters. Forget reviews, I got eyes and ears and there'd be no way I'd pay to see that. Thing is it isn't something with a lot of expectations and I don't think ppl think it'll be that bad so yeah you probably could get some Jack Reacher type surprising opinions on it but I think more ppl will say it's exactly what I thought it was gonna be, part comedy, part action. Nice escape for a hr+
