Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

calibeebee calibeebee No review this time man, but I ******* loved it, eye to eye with Die Hard for me with how it went all across the NY hotspots and Jeremy Irons.

Watched this one (I had never heard of). Surprisingly entertaining. Clancy Brown plays a great scumbag (again) and Sean Penn's cellmate is hilarious.

This movie is a personal classic for me—I must have watched it countless times as a kid. What always stuck with me was the moral complexity of the story. I remember wondering why Mick was portrayed as the good guy, even though Paco’s perspective was understandable, especially with him seeking revenge for his brother's death. After all, Mick set off to rob Paco, which spiraled into chaos, leading to the deaths of his friend, another guy, and an innocent bystander (Paco's brother).

Yet, the narrative had me rooting for Mick, probably because Paco went too far by assaulting that girl. Watching this also served as a cautionary tale—keeping me mindful of not ending up in a place like Spofford juvie.

Paco’s greatest crime was raping Mick’s girl, which he did to get into juvy. While that is despicable, Mick ran into his brother with a car. Accidentally, but still.

Yeah there was a narrative there. In the end it’s supposed to tell us Mick made a mistake while Paco did what he did on purpose to get revenge eventually. The crimes and the purposes are disjointed.

Watched it yesterday. Sounds and visuals were amazing, especially, sitting up close

Still had me :emoji_cry:
The score during this was outstanding, and with Damon’s Last Stand too, so good

I was thinking about 10 years ago when McConaghey and Woody basically opened up the TV game to box-worthy movie stars, and who hasn’t jumped in during the proceeding decade.

Big-name actors who have never been a lead in any TV show (since they hit it big), but would be a must-watch if they did:

Denzel
Leo
Tom Cruise
Ed Norton

That’s just a start

Finally watched The Substance and man I loved it. Was freaked out by the body horror stuff, Demi/Margaret killed the dual role. Even Dennis Quaid as the smarmy producer really shines in what could've been a throwaway part for him. Movie works as a commentary on youth obsessed culture & an allegory for cosmetic surgeries run amok. Movie feels like if Reanimator & Twin Peaks had a baby.
