Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

That’s the one I use most.

I did some media training a few months ago and a few of us had a competition to see how many quotes we could slip in. I managed 2. Can’t remember what they were just now though.
“I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”

“You have an absolutely breathtaking heine. I mean that thing is good.”

I also often say “What the hell, bro?!!” with the same tone and cadence as Jack Black does in Anchorman after he gets hit by a burrito. My wife hates it, which of course makes it even funnier to me

What are you guys thoughts on this scene? Opinions seem to be divided. Some find it to be pretentious, others find it beautiful. I happen to fall into the latter category

The amount of appreciation for this movie has appeared to have diminished over time. Some say it hasn’t aged well. And I know this scene has been made fun of a couple of times, but it’s still a good scene

Usually bad movies aren't as bad as people make them out to be, but man, Borderlands might be an exception.

OK Borderlands is a 1.5/8. Feels like the bones of a decent low budget Sci fi channel TV show is there though, actually kinda reminds me of Killjoys.

Awful storytelling, pacing. Visuals OK at times but mostly bad cgi. Some fun action. A lot of weird little bad movie mistakes. Barely any of the jokes hit.

I buy Kevin Hart as a commando, he should do it again in a pure action film.

Cate is miscast. Doesn't seem obvious at first since she's supposed to be an old bounty hunter, but then she meets other old actresses Gina and Jamie Lee talking about "your mother was a good woman ". Should have been a late 30s-early 40s actress.

Borderlands games have been in the backlog forever, so I don't know the story, when does Captain Marvel show up? Also didn't get the references they stopped the movie to make sure they got off.

Late night viewings of 2001: A Space Odyssey hit. The opening sequence is so enjoyably therapeutic, even from the blank screen at the very beginning, with the eerie, yet soothing sound effects.

I have this little ritual where if it so happens to be playing on HBO, I’ll watch the entire opening (The Dawn of Man scenes) as well as the very first space scenes accompanied by the classical music.

I won’t continue watching once the dialog begins, though. Because by that point I am ready to get a good night’s sleep.

The Fall Guy is mad funny, can’t believe this movie bombed. I lost it when he was speaking with the mouth guard. The fight scene when he was drugged was hard too.

Emily Blunt’s face looks different. Must have had work done cause at times she looks damn near AI.

Funniest movies I ever watched in theaters was Anchorman and Superbad.

Would've loved to seen an older movie with a plot twist like Sixth Sense or Gone Girl being a more recent movie.

I would have been just turning 15 when Anchorman came out so obviously that's a great age for a silly comedy, but I also saw it with my cousins 's, I was visiting with and my dad was sick with terminal cancer at the time. He would have passed away 6 weeks later. So I think for me getting to escape for 90 minutes in a theater with family and laugh. My *** off was cathartic in a lot of ways.

It's one of the many reasons I love movies. You can escape for 2 hours and go on an adventure. Laugh your *** off. Learn something about the world or yourself. Another time when I was beyond overwhelmed with a 60 page senior seminar. I had to write that if I didn't pass I would basically fail out of college.. I went to go see 21 Jump Street in the theaters when I really should have been practicing my speech and writing my paper, but instead I watched one of my favorite movies for the first time and I'll always remember that

Gone Girl being a more recent movie.

I saw in theater and I am being 1,000000000% serious when I tell this story........

Lovin the movie, excellent film, I'm all in........she grabs the wine bottle.......I'm sittin in my seat like (???) and she opens it up (ok, we drinkin early, or???) and she reaches under her nightie......(???????) and shoves........

Theater is DEAD SILENT until the words "What the ****?" came flyin out my mouth. The whole damn theater heard me. They laughed like we was watchin Deadpool/Wolverine.

Bruh.....I was MYSTIFIED in there. I will NEVER forget that scene, or that moment. And I suspect none of them will either.

As for what I did NOT see in theaters and wish that I had, easy answers for me. The Matrix, Iron Man, and John Wick.

Dunkirk for sure, Nolan is my guy and that is one I didn’t see in theaters. I was a kid when Jurassic Park was released but that would have been cool to have seen for the first time in theaters too.

Strange Darling- Solid 6.8/8. Definitely recommend checking out even once it hits streaming. Try not to read anything about it, or it will kind of ruin the beginning. I went in completely blind and thought it was pretty good.

This film hasn’t been mentioned once on NT.
I’m on vacation, been watching trash al weekend.
