Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Man, I understand you guys loved Sorry to Bother you, but my wife literally walked out the room last night and I was like wtf is this BS about. Didnt find to much humor in it and i completely understood the metaphor, but still couldn't rock with it.
You gotta admit y'all were digging the movie until Bojack Horseman and crew showed up at least :lol

Everything about this is a bad idea. Slightly interested. Dont want it to end up with the kid getting raped or murdering everybody.

mannnn....i thought i would be the only one. watched it this morning and by the time dude was having the argument with his girl in the bed, i just turned it off. i get the message but it just wasn’t interesting. i didn’t delete it though. maybe i’ll finish it another day.

Is this gonna be the move? Aladdin looks like an unknown. I was very impressed with live action Jungle Book but life action Beauty and the Beast was doo doo. I guess we’ll see

I'm in for Aladdin. I would prefer to not see Will Smith as the genie until I'm in the theater but that's impossible...

I liked Pines a lot. It's kinda got a dry feel to the movie so I can see how people wouldn't like it.

I've loved everything Mahershala Ali has been in. I remember seeing him in House Of Cards for the first time & said to myself this dude is going to be a star.

He & the yakuza dude were my favorites in the 2010 Predator movie with Adrien Brody...

:smokin The yakuza dude went out like a champ to. That dude was in Bourne Legacy too. Wish he was in more stuff.

Place Beyond the Pines was on its way to being great until the third act fell flat on its face. I remember being so disappointed that they dragged out the story line between the sons.

Anyone peep 22 July yet? Well reviewed just dropped 2 days ago on Netflix. It's about that mass shooting at the camp in Norway that killed like 80 people.

Add me to the list. Couldn't get into it despite thinking I would love it. The social commentary was right up my alley I just didn't dig the execution.

So should I watch First Man?

Honestly despite it being Gosling and I think Chazelle directing I don't have much interest

Already seen Bad Times @ The So Royale amd The Old Man & the Gun today.

Peeping First Man in IMAX tonight
Notice my infrequent weekend posts

I have just not been feeling a lot of movies coming out lately.

I'm here waiting around in the theater with like 10 options of movies to slip in to just bored not counting the movies I've seen or have no interest in.

I did also catch the 3rd act of The Oath but wouldn't be fair to review that off what I saw. And I'm nkt about to wait he to see it when I'm just here biding time for a meet up later to get yambs.

So semi-washed on the movie watching front.

Still need to see the Sisters Brothers. Maybe that tomorrow.

On second thought, First Man in 4DX may be worth it.

They got the seats going like a rollercoaster for the previews

Just finished 22 July. Pretty heart wrenching and intense. The actual shooting scenes of the kids at the camp is shown in way more detail than I anticipated. Much of the story is focused on the shooter and his legal defense too, so be prepared to be furious and disgusted. Thankfully, the survivors angle is redeeming and balances out bleakness in the end.

6.2/8

so damn in. my body is ready.

Bad Times at the El Royale 6.4/8

This really good. Really really good even. For 2 hours they told interesting mini stories that became one intersting overall story. I actually was engaged with each characters story although I wish they went a bit deeper with the last one.

I can see how this got a comparison to QT or at least some of his recent stories. The story is told in parts covering each characters backstory and reason for being at the hotel.

This movie had GREAT music but I am a sucka for Motown and popular music of the 60s and 70s.

All the actors did their thing. Dug Hemsworth as a bad guy. Hamm's character was right in his wheelhouse. The chick from 50 shades was good. The two unknowns were solid. Shorty singing looked like shorty from 3LW (want to say Naturi Newton). Way better singer. The hotel bellhop/bartender/etc played his role well. A bit Paul Dano a bit Michael Cera. Bridges was real good, kinda carried this.

The Old Man & the Gun 6.2/8

Good movie. Real nice. Wasny anything crazy but one of those nice quaint movies you can enjoy.

That this is based on real events is crazy. The gentleman bank robber is cool and funny just thinking of it. The idea that robbing banks made him happy and felt like he was living life  He made it look too easy even for the late 60s/70s. Him breaking out of 16 prisons was crazier.

Kinda don't want Redford to retire.

First Man 6/8

I'm sure others might love this but i just liked it. Knew I wasnt as interested but that 4dx experience kept me engaged. Even spraying water when the kids were in the pool

Learned some things about Armstrong and the entire process. Who and how many dudes had to die to get to the moon. That last death was a gruesome way to go.

Some interesting choices, angles and shots by Chazelle in this. I appreciated that since we already know how all in most directors/studios go in for big biopics loke this. It was a little different.

They took some dry topics and ppl and made them a little bit more worth paying attention to.

Yo how come I didn't know Buzz Aldrin was such an a-hole? Couldnt believe the lines he had in this :rollin Inappropriate and foul especially during a funeral or after a death.

I found that interesting cuz they could've easily made part of this movie about 2 colleagues who became friends and went on a journey to complete the mission of getting to the moon but nope Buzz just won a moon mission lottery after others died and Neil was tortured soul burdened by death that when it came down to him stepping up all the allure and excitement of getting to the moon was gone.

Didnt know about Neil's personal life so that stuff about his daughter managed to hit even though he seemed like a bit of a stiff and was such a reserved introverted person.

Everybody in this was serviceable as actors. Felt like Gosling eased in to this. Didn't have to do much but convey emotions silently. Claire Foy was probably best acted in this as Neil's wife. Corey Stoll was perfectly cast scumbag Buzz

Gonna watch El Royale Sunday, only heard good things so far and looking forward to Hemsworth doing something different and playing a villain.

I had no idea Stoll was in First Man as Buzz. Whoever Corey plays is guaranteed to be a ****.
