Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Will Smith seemed to go through an Oscar-chasing phase - Ali, Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds. But I think he's over it now.

Seeing Will's downfall be so sudden is pretty sad to me...

He's just made some awful choices recently. Inexcusable choices for someone with all the money, resources, and interest to involve himself in much better projects.

Him turning down Django because it was a supporting role was a sign of bad things to come. Dudes ego is just getting in his way.

After Earth? SMH. At this point, all known actors should know to stay well away from anything with M. Night's name attached to it, in any capacity, which is also sad.

1st off going off his work Will Smith isn't that good enough of an actor. Hence, why he'd have to Oscar chase. To me he's shown the potential to be a better actor that could get him in ranking of a Clooney or a Damon but to me it seemed he was satisfied with being the guy that's in the movies that make the most money.

We all know about his patterns and strategy to picking movies that worked for him but it's never put him in the Oscar worthy category. He fell off now simply cuz his last attempt to really try to put his son on but that kid's not even half as good as Will.

At this point it's not even ego getting in his way, he's just trying not to take any risks unless he get something out of it (After Earth being a role where he was trying to prop his son up. Pursuit being a bit of both with the other being award chasing). I'm not sure what he's doing in Winter's Tale (maybe just a safe role) but Focus although it has him as a con-man is a rom-com/dramedy which seems to be back to form for Will unless it turns out to be really good (this that movie where Kristin Stewart dropped out of it cuz she's racist. Turned out to be a great thing cuz Margot Robbie has the role now).

I'd love if he just decided to start doing experimental roles from here on out but it seems he's gonna just keep doing what he thinks will keep his status in tact.

the action was straight and entertaining but comedy was forced and cringe worthy at times
