P.J. Carlesimo has an agreement in principle to join the Toronto Raptors as an assistant coach under Jay Triano, according to league sources.

Carlesimo last served as a head coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder but was replaced by Scott Brooks midway through the 2008-09 season.

Prior to that, Carlesimo served as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs under Gregg Poppovich.

Carlesimo spent this season working for the Spurs as a color commentator on their radio broadcasts.

Carlesimo has compiled a 204-296 record as a head coach having helmed the Portland Trail Blazers (1994-97) and Golden State Warriors (1997-2000) before taking over the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 before their move to Oklahoma City.

An official announcement is expected later this week.

Knowing him and how many teams he's bounced around on, I'd guess at least a 4 year deal.  I think he should definitely stay in Orlando, but who knows if they're willing to commit long term money to him when they already have deals with Bass and Gortat who don't play that much.

I think I'd rather see Redick get resigned than Barnes.

Eh, if we don't get Barnes, I'm hoping for a Bynum for Bosh swap, and add Ray Allen for the mid level.  That's my offseason right there. 

Re-sign whichever PG's already on the roster, Fish and Farmar if we can, hope that Brown stays, have our bench be Farmar, Allen, Brown, Odom, filler. 

I assume Sasha would go with Bynum in a deal for Bosh if that happens.  He'll only have one year left on his deal, Bynum will have 2.

J.J. Redick will be a restricted free agent this offseason, and on Monday, Redick continued to say he would prefer to re-sign with the Orlando Magic. He also indicated that his main goal isn't to go to a team where he would be a starter. In fact, Redick insisted that he would be happy to remain a bench player on a winning team. "Winning is the most important thing to me," Redick said. "I'd rather have this role on a winning team with a great organization and a great city than anything else. The Magic can match any other team's offer for Redick, a restricted free agent. Smith sounded like he didn't want to let him go. "Would we love to have J.J. back? Sure. I think Matt Barnes adds intensity and toughness to any team in the league. He seems to have pretty solid bball IQ and I think any team would like to have him.

I think JJ will get more money

Smith described Thorn's decision as yet another indication of how badly the Heat want to get rid of Beasley.

However, a look at the two teams' salary structures show that it may be more about cap space. Beasley is scheduled to make $4,962,240 next season while Dooling is only owed a $500,000 buyout on his $3,828,000. The Nets have a team option on Dooling exercisable June 29. So taking on Beasley would have reduced the Nets' cap space by nearly $4.5 million. It would have made the Heat much more competitive in free agency this summer as well, giving them more than $25 million to spend...as well as Dwyane Wade.

Is that how far Beasley has fallen? Who cares if you're NJ and you lose 4.5 million, Beasley could turn out to be a nice player if put in the right situation. The risk outweighs the reward, and you I don't see how New Jersey can turn that down seeing as how nothing's definite with free agents yet. What happens if they get screwed in FA? They'd be looking back on this deal. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.
