A lot of sensible truth in your post... Repped
I'll have to piggyback on a lot of your list
I haven't seen bruno mars live, just the Super Bowl performance and snl, but I'm gonna make it a point because of his band and his theatrics. I respect that.
Any greatest live performers list without prince and r kelly is just foolish. 2 of the greats that actually have the vocals.
That's wear I'd have to disagree about usher. Dude just doesn't have it anymore.
Kanye does his thing and I understand it's his show and does what he pleases. But people go to a concert to have a good time and enjoy music. Not listen to manifestos. So he loses points for that. But I still enjoy him ALOT live.
It seems comical now, but 50 cent during his height of fame was a killer show. He's been using that same hand movement for like a decade now tho
Even though EDM is not my lane, the energy of those shows is undeniable. Not many people from any genre can compete with that. That's why pitbull and flo rida are flourishing worldwide right now.
You raise some additional good points. What constitutes "performer"? I mention Usher and Chris cause they are very good dancers. That's a part of performance.
I was going to mention deadmau5. Yes, it's a gimmick, but much like Kanye's show, it's about the theatrics. The mau5head, the visuals etc.
To me a band isn't theatrics. The Roots are The Roots. And they're ******* ill live. This is where guys like Bruno and JT win too.
Especially if they can also play an instrument themselves. You get points for that from me.
Like i said, Kanye puts on a great live show. But certainly not a flawless one between his ramblings and his bum *** DJ.
So let's call it what it is. Cats in this thread just OD too much sometimes.
And Kanye has some uptempo **** he can do live. Even "Black Skinhead" turns up.
I actually think a live show is better when it isn't ALL uptempo, like a lot of EDM shows. That **** is too much sometimes.
