***Official Tattoo Thread: Inked-4-Life Vol.2***

I would assume that is why he tattoos a lot of celebs that has the money. I could be off a couple of grand or so.

But yeah, ask him if he should be done in one day but if he doesn't you could be looking at an expensive tattoo. Honestly if you aren't partial to him as a tattoo, I am sure there are plenty of other black and white tattoo artists that can do what he does.

Any suggestion in the NYC area who could do B&W THAT good?

For some reason, I want a piece that looks like the pieces that Jun does.

Something along the lines of

^^^^^That's hard to find. I hate to say it but black and white tattoo artist are a dime a dozen in Southern Cal but anywhere else, it can be hard. Even in Northern California it can be hard to get something like that. You almost have to pretty much fly out to those places and get it that way. I mean I would if I were you but I know it can be costly.

Also you can try and wait for them to come when there is a convention but I from my experience and even with good tattoo artists, all convention tattoos never look as good when you come for multiple visits.

Super excited to be getting my 2nd tattoo finally. It's been like 7 years since my first :lol.

I'm getting this guy

600full-thriller-screenshot.jpg

Left side of my torso from right under the arm pit to waist.

I wanted an MJ tat that didn't actually try to capture his likeness (any one of them) or something generic like his initials/logo etc. The tat is supposed to be first and foremost gnarly & scary.

Waiting on the call to see the first draft of this piece.

Question, I went to the shop that I had researched online and mentioned the artist that drew me to the shop. The problem is, the artist wasn't in the shop at the time and the dude who greeted me took all of my info and general ideas regarding he piece. I left and later realized he never confirmed if HE was going to draw something up or pass it along to the artist I wanted to see.

You think I should call them up and inquire about that or wait til I get called I for the draft?

Inner bicep didn't hurt at all. It actually felt good, I got both of my biceps done. Outline and shading. It's the buttcheeks that hurt like a mother f'er.
got the inner biceps on both arms done as well. the shading is definitely a b.

hurt more than than the shading on my rib piece.

Just emailed me back. Said that it would take 3-4 full days (8 hours per) to complete. at $4K x 3-4 days = $12-16K .

I would do $4k for a full piece, but $4k to just go and get outlines sounds crazy. I've been trying to look for NYC artists but I can't seem to find anything.

Fong$tarr Fong$tarr Do you have any pics of any nice Samurai Helmets, Demon Masks, japanese backgrounds? Tryna do my arm piece but need some inspiration.. thinking of throwing a tanuki in the piece also. Appreciate it.

Can't wait for my first tattoo. I plan on getting mine done by Kari Barba at Outer Limits.

^^^^^Man....that are so many things to look up. I can try and post stuff later after I get back from work but I see so many tattoos from IG that literally disappear after I see them.

Yeah....that is about right and the whole $10K thing for Nikko seems more realistic. I mean he probably charges more if any. To just make your life easier, find someone else to do the job. Don't sink your money into a tattoo if you know you can't afford it.

haha no rush, just wanted to see if you had a folder of japanese art or something, thanks though!

Did you end up gettin this? Id be concerned how close it is to the Hell's Angels' logo. Step to the wrong bike event and you may have some problems man.

Nah I didn't get it. I'm going to collaborate with the artist to come up with something else. The resemblance to the HA is too close for comfort. I didn't even think about it as I was drawing it up.

What's going on guys?

I contaced Eric Marcinizyn for some open dates he has at Bang Bang. I got a response. $2,000 for a half day, $4,000 for a full day. Now my question is this, is that common for a good artist like him, or is that steep?

I really like his work, plus, I don't have to get on a waiting list. But i don't know how much top artists chrarge, so I need some insight. Thank you.

Eric can get a complete tattoo done in a full day. As in full tattoo, I'm talking about a decent sized portrait. It will help tremendously if you already know what you want and send it over if you decide to make the appointment.

One bit of advice I can give (not directed at you, just in general) -
Be realistic about your expectations. Some people are under the false assumption that they're getting a completed 1/2 sleeve, or potentially more, in one day.
There are plenty of artists that can offer that, but you generally want to stay away from those artists. I know, I know, everybody has a hook up or a friend that will "hook it up". In almost all of those instances, the hook is actually down, not up. The novelty of how little you paid will wear off a lot quicker than the tattoo will, and you'll be stuck with a constant regret that will make you aggravated on a daily basis. You'll probably get it covered up, or minimally have to have it completely re-done by a legitimate tattooer.

There are reasons why great artists, not just tattooers, charge what they charge. You're paying for not only the final product, but for the years of experience, and the lifelong satisfaction of owning something you're completely happy with. You'll never have to buy it again. It's always a smart idea to price shop… for a pair of khaki's. Get the tattoo you can afford. If you can't afford it, save some more money. It's a luxury item, not a necessity.

Might be a stupid question but do any of you think that the black ink crew are any good? I seen those cats tatts and I think they suck.

Finished up the lower part of my sleeve, gonna touch up the bicep and inner arm and it'll be complete.

Really not happy with my most recent piece. :\

Upper arm piece, started in November, finished in December.

Don't think I'll have to cover it someday. I would think a touch up from someone reputable would be possible. How long would I have to wait for someone to touch it up?

Dude sat for 19hrs over 2 days :x

Artist is a beast aswel though. Chris Crooks, White Dragon Tattoo in Belfast, Ireland.

Aside from Shige i think this guy is putting out some of the hardest Irezumi/Japanese work that i've ever seen.

Anybody in Miami/South Florida reccomend any good shops or artists? Just moved down here from chicago and looking to get some work done

Pics?

Touch it up as soon as it heals technically.

The actual tattoo is nice, great lines, good composition, great colors.

But meh, I don't like Japanese style that is more modern than traditional. Japanese looks best in the traditional Japanese tattoo style. This new school type work is meh.

Yeah i def see where you're coming from with that.

I'm more into technical proficiency and the details rather than adherence to a certain style though so i can mess with both as long as it's quality work.

My honest opinion is Inkaholiks. They got 2 locations. I prefer the artists at "the Church" location. They do good work.

So many technical problems I have with it. The drawing he did was so on point, too. :/

And one of the first things I told him was I wanted to see practically no skin. I wanted vibrant colors, all over the piece. Look how much skin you see, man. :\

He got lazy with the bear's mouth. In the drawing, it was just like the fierce snarl of the actual bear's mouth on the flag. But the execution? Lazy.

So many things, man. I don't even like putting the pic online. I'm proud of having a Cali piece, but like I don't want anyone looking too long at it.

Who was the artist?

I'm not too sure but I think an elite artist could turn that piece into an amazing piece. Might have to be on a long waiting list but it'll be worth it

Doesnt reay fit your arm either. Just weird placement, and the saturation of the colors is meh. I woudnt go back to him, good news is that its a salvageable project. Find a better artist and have him touch it up and add to it for a better flowing piece.

When you posted your first session several pages back, you didn't want to accept how bad it was. I questioned it, it fell on deaf ears. So many red flags from the get go and nothing that showed the possibility of anything good coming of it.
