With the wing contouring the side of your hip or butt cheek? For me a wheel or anything ground centric would fit better at the bottom of the leg sleeve.
Do you plan on doing it piece by piece with one theme or will it be a single piece?

I'm starting a few inches up from my ankle. I'll probably have this take up the majority of my outer calf/front of my shin. Figured out a decent quote that kind of sums up biker life, or at least my experience with it. Orcis Spiritua Nunquam Moritur. It's Latin for "The Rebel Spirit Never Dies". Been riding bikes for about 4 years now. Even after taking a spill my first year riding, I haven't given it up. Never plan on it either. What do you guys think? Remember this is just the mock up. I plan on taking it to the artist that did my koi half sleeve and getting his take on it along with a price and appt date.

just a quick question. one of my boys is thinking about getting a fairly lengthy quote tattoo'd on him, about four sentences. i've seen tattoos like this done before, but no matter which part of the body it's done on, it just looks bare and out of place. i'm not too sure on what sort of font he wants, but I think scripts were out of question due to it likely making the quote difficult to read.
any suggestions yall have for him on font and background/filler he could use for quote? also, if you have any suggestions on appropriate artists to go to in the Oakland/SF bay area for this?

I don't know man. There is a lot to a tattoo that makes it just really hard to get. Just from first impressions on myself (this is not hate), it kind of makes that tattoo look like something from bubble gum machine. I can't imagine that tattoo being super big seeing as it will be on your ankle and the wings sort of give that Hermes thing where you'll have wings on your feet. Not that its a bad thing but I personally wouldn't do it.
I know this is a leg sleeve but it seems like one of those things that will be that old piece with the surrounding being the better part of your tattoo. Even since that drawing is facing towards a specific direction, I would almost rather put that on a shoulder piece. Maybe have the wing drape to the back but I am not much of a wing guy, so that isn't saying much. Hopefully the tattoo artists can tie it all in as a leg tattoo though but from what you are showing, I would think it wouldn't work right as a ankle tattoo. My opinion of course.
@moe200069 No one at Corban's spot does script type tattoos? I am not too familiar with Oakland tattoo shops but would assume since he tat's like latino style stuff that he'd have someone there that could do it. Funny how there is a guy named Hector Fong that works there too.
4 sentences is long though. I honestly would advise away from it but if you do it, you have to go big and not small. That is something for like the back or chest but. Don't run that stuff down your arm and leg cause people would have to read it sideways and that is just to much text to get into. Again, my opinion of course. Check out Greg Rojas at Seventh Son. He does script stuff from what I see. Maybe he can mellow it out a bit.
I said it before but of course not everyone does it but don't use a script from a computer. If you go to the right guy/girl, they will do a custom script for you. That is how all tattoos should be done where the tattoo artists is somewhat of a calligraphy artists. NEVER get it done where you type some BS from a computer. That is of course if you want it to look like it came from a computer like below:

^^^Look at it like this. This is how all script writing should be done (NT's own BJ Betts). Everything should be hand done and custom with no computer assistance. Remember, not everyone can do it so just pick a tattoo artists that has good letters and good hands at that. Script tattoos are good when the person tattooing has some steady hands.

How do yall deal with pain. I'm getting my tattoo extended to my lower back/lat and i know I'm really sensitive there. Do you guys have any tips?

You're not new to tattoos but my first tattoo I ever got was on my inner bicep......I legit passed out. I have bad anxiety so that kinda added to my passing out but control the rate of your breathing and even though it's hard to do try not to concentrate on that buzzing sound the needle is making (so annoying) and just think of some outlandish **** to get the pain off your mind . That's all I got.

Have the guy throw some bactine a couple times. Bactine cant be applied more than maybe 3-4 times, if that. It will soothe it a bit.
Other than that, bring your big boy pants underwear that day and just take it.

I'm in NJ (can easily travel to NYC) and want a tat. Thing is, I don't have an exact picture of what I want, and would much rather have the artist draw up a custom piece. Any suggestion on who in NJ/NYC would be the best artist to go to? Money isn't the problem, but I don't want to wait for almost a year on a list.

What style do you want? You dont have to go to a big name artist, all of the good shops in NYC/Brooklyn can probably do it for you and do a good job.
I recommend Red Rocket Tattoo. I went there for my right arm sleeve and theres an artist there for basically any style.
But if people want suggestions they need to be more specific.

Location: Full sleeve
Type: Traditional (I would prefer in color, but B&W is fine)....No portraits or Japanese.
I've been told about this shop in Staten Island called Bullseye with this artist Danny Lepore. But I'm gonna check out Red Rocket .

Bactine definitely helps especially for such a touchy area, but keep in mind that a.) the skin has to be open first before it can be applied and b.) like Picasso said, there's a limit on how many times it can be sprayed.
Otherwise there's not much else you can do. It's going to hurt no matter what, so you just need to wrap your head around that and grit through it. Good luck, man.
