TIP TO MINIMIZE CREASING. That's FREE
So awhile back I purchased the stupid Force Fields from Champs and I found them to be so uncomfortable that they just sit in my drawer. So I figured out a solution that is FREE minus the cost of duct tape!!!
I use the cardboard shoetrees that you find inside of your Jordans upon purchase.
What I do is...
1. Just cut a nice size piece off of the toe portion of the cardboard shoetree, enough to cover the inside of the toe box, I just cut straight across, in a straight line.
2. After I cut the piece I put it inside of the shoe to see if it's comfortable, or if its still too long. Because of this, I always try not to cut too much at first, because you want to leave as much cardboard as possible to cover the toebox area. If you put the toe piece in the shoe and its still a little bit too big, you can always cut off a little bit more, a little bit at a time, until you get the biggest piece possible without sacrificing comfort. Just don't cut too much at first, and you won't have to worry about wasting some of your shoetrees.
3. After I get a perfect size that is comfortable, but not too small, I cover the cardboard piece in duct tape, to ensure that it doesn't lose shape, or becomes damp with sweat over time. Just make sure that the tape is flush when applying it to the cardboard, or else it won't be very comfortable.
PS. Don't confuse the left and the right pieces while doing this. I always write an L and R when they're still just cardboard, and then I use a sharpie to write an L and R on them when they're finally wrapped in duct tape.
Anyways, I hope this helps some of you. I found these to be so much more comfortable than force fields because they're a lot more pliable, and the best part is that they're FREE. I didn't even cut all my shoetrees either, I just made two pair, that way I can still maintain the shoetrees in my shoes, without cutting them for the rest of my collection. The few shoes that no longer have the shoetrees, I just stuff the toe box with plastic bags when they're not in use.
Again, I hope this helps, You just created your own FREE CREASE PROTECTOR!!!! BOH!!!!
