It would be a smart business move for them to take phone orders, but then again the product will sell themselves with regular walk-in customers.
It would be a moronic move for them to take phone orders - have employees leaving their stations to go on wild goose chases to find one item that somebody on the phone is alleging they have because he heard about it on a message board. ...Meanwhile, that item - if it's actually even in stock - was hidden underneath the incomplete mauve placement in "housewares." All the while, the line for the register is piling up.
That kind of service is the antithesis of of their business model. They barely known their own inventory. The deal is, you can get the rewards price-wise, but you'll have to do the work for it and dig. That's the bargain you make when shopping at those kinds of stores. I'd say it's like thrifing, but I've seen better organized thrift stores than your average Marshalls.
Well when you put it like that.
I didn't mean to attack you...
I know you're just saying it sucks when you know there's something you want somewhere and you have no way of getting to it. It's an unfamiliar feeling in the information age - and I sympathize. But, it's just impractical for those kinds of the stores to do that.
The Marshalls/Ross/TJ Maxx's by me are usually kept up pretty nice. Their business model is to move inventory fast, wish we could know what kicks come through, but it would be futile since it could literally last a day.
