Cuz they probably pay about one half to two thirds of retail with their items and sell low. Finishline and large retailers only pay 50% of retail i believe

Let us not forget that they also up mark desirable hyped up shoes while lowering prices on those that aren't doing as good. Essentially there whole business plan is about moving products fast and that's by pricing them to sell, whether it be drastically above retail or largely below.

After a few months of examining this thread and heading out to the three discount stores of TJ, Marshalls, and Ross, this is what I have found out what each store tends to have better items of.

TJ- All Nike clothing, North Face/Columbia jackets

Marshalls- Polo Ralph Lauren, Penguin

Ross- Random Shoes

Random jerseys can be found at all three too.
