you're lucky you scored anything off felix. wak simply left him in too long. thanks though, hope you enjoyed the broomstick.

YES. With signs of Texas crashing, and the Angels losing some players to injuries, the M's have a real good opportunity to crack the post season. Anypossibility of moves before the deadline? I've heard rumors, but who would you love to get?

They need to stand pat imo. Only way I would trade, is if this team totally conceded the rest of the season and wanted to begin the rebuildingprocess. With this division being so tight, I'm not so sure you'd want to get rid of the attention getting names on the market a la a Bedard orWashburn.

Maybe, if they think Vargas, Morrow, and Olson can hold down this rotation then you could look to move Washburn or more reluctantly Bedard for a bat to placein the middle of the lineup, but if this team by chance pulls this division out, don't you feel more comfortable with Felix, Bedard, and Washburn gettingthe majority of the starts in the postseason as opposed to either Bedard or Washburn being replaced by the hottest pitcher of the three I alluded to?

We'll see what happens, but at the risk of sounding corny, I'd rather let the Mojo do it's magic on this team and delay the rebuilding until theoffseason.

Rowland-Smith will be coming back from his injury so either Vargas, Olson, or Morrow is out of the rotation.

That's kind of an interesting predicament then. Simply performance based, Morrow would be the odd man out, but the M's already said they wanted him towork into being a full-time starter at the big league level so I don't know if they'd send him down. Vargas and Olson have done nothing to warrantthemselves incapable of being in the rotation, and in fact, have down quite a commendable job. Either way, it's always a good thing when you have optionswhen it comes to pitching.

yep. funny that RRS is another lefty, so that means with Vargas and Olson, the M's have 5 lefty starters. rare.

Hey guys, I haven't disappeared or quit watching the M's, just stopped posting because it seems every time I do I jinx the team and they lose. But Ican today since it's an off day haha, well well the M's turned it around and hopefully can start a big run. The pinch hit Griffey HR on Friday was thehighlight of the year for me personally. The offense is still a little anemic but at least they've come up big in the late innings over the last weekend. As far as trades go, since the Mariners are in serious contention and things are starting to click a little more I hope they try to not only keep everyone butpick up an extra bat, preferably in the outfield. Another good sign is attendance seemed pretty good lately so hopefully that'll convince management tokeep everyone and possibly pick up someone. The mojo and optimism is back...now let's get those Padres!

i think we need to unload one of those lefty starters and maybe batista for a bat. we need a LF with endy gone for the season.

Wasn't there a rumor about a Washburn to Dodgers trade for Juan Pierre?

Oh-so-close... almost completed the comeback... at least we're scoring some runs...

Oh well...

Looks like the apparent blunder of nixing a Washburn deal with the Minnesota Twins last year was not much of a mistake.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly interested in the 34-year-old veteran starting pitcher. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has been scouting the Dodgers farm squads over the past few days likely for possible trade packages. It is no surprise the Dodgers want to upgrade their pitching staff before the trading deadline. They are 22 games over .500 and if they can nail down that final spot in their rotation, they can just put their season on cruise control with Manny Ramirez coming back soon.

The Mariners themselves are currently at 35-34 and only 2.5 games out of the AL West. They are not just going to give away a quality starter for nothing, especially considering his salary will no longer be an issue like it was last season in trying to offload him. With the season being about halfway done, he is slated to make around $4-5 million.

Washburn's stats are misleading (26-48 4.23 ERA), as he has something like the second lowest run support out of all AL pitchers in his tenure with the Mariners, something interested teams know.

Since the Mariners are not in a desperate situation (i.e. 30 games out and forced to sell for the future), and could either be buyers or sellers this season, it will drive the price for their players up. No matter what they decide to do, they are going to get top line young talent, or established MLB ready players.

With a confident, competent GM in Jack Zdurencik who has already shown his savvy in trades by grabbing guys like David Aardsma, Jason Vargas, Garret Olson, and Franklin Guiterrez, Mariners' fans should feel good about what goes on at this years trade deadline. It has been a refreshing change from the Bavasi era when all of the best trade chips were given away on a silver platter. I know every trade deadline of late felt like a kick to the nuts for Mariners fans.

Name one Bavasi era trade import who is currently making any impact for the Mariners. That's funny, because there are not any.

In regards to Washburn, a three prospect package containing two high rated prospects, and a mid to low level, is what can be expected. I would expect them to be looking for a SS with the lackadaisical Yuniesky Betancourt drawing the ire of many Mariners fans. I know I am not the only one wishing those Jack Wilson trade rumors had not fallen through.

A report from the Seattle Times had Dodgers OF Juan Pierre as a possible match for Washburn. Just what the Mariners need, another OF who cannot hit for power.

With JZ at the helm, just let this thing play itself out and the result should be positive Mariners fans.

Just watched the game...

@ that 1-unassisted-DP by Morrow... it probablyhappens more often that not, but I've never seen it before...

@ Dave Simms... when Guti hit that homer, there was noenthusiasm in his voice till after the ball had sailed over the wall. The guy just can't seem to read the ball coming off the bat.
