let's stop acting like mac jones is going to be a disaster without even seeing him play.

if his reads, processing, decision making, and throws are as good as they're being graded, he could be the right guy for the job.

hoping for a surprise fields or lance pick, but willing to trust in kyle and roll with mac until i see him actually play poorly

Got the new pic fellas

Things is we dont know if the more talented QBs will be better than Jones in the long run. A lot of successful QBs strive with the mental part of the game more than with their physical talent. If Jones is the pick I'm rolling with Jones. Not the sexy pick but no one knows how these QBs will end up.

I mean....yeah we are all Niner fans so we will roll with the pick if its him and support him too. I will always say that if a GM picks someone that turns out to be a bust, he should get exponentially more criticism if the player is a reach. There were absolutely zero analysts, pundits or what have you that had Jones ranked as high as we would pick him. If we took him at 12 and he didnt turn out, then our front office would be given the benefit of the doubt. Trading tons of picks to move up to 3 puts you in a different light if he busts.

Thats why I will never ridicule the Raiders for Jamarcus Russell. Every team who needed a QB would have picked him 1st overall if they had the pick. It would have been an inexcusible pick if there were 2-3 other QBs that draft that were rated higher and the Raiders STILL picked Russell.

If Mac is the pick, he better damn sure be good or Kyle and Lynch will be shown the door.

If Mac is their target I have no problem with the trade they made. You cant hope your guy falls down to you and makes it to the 12 spot. You had JAX, NYJ, ATL, CAR, and DEN all with QB needs. You dont know who most of those teams are going to target, plus you have to worry about all the other teams in the top 12 that are solidified at the QB position, but are open to trade out of their spot to a team who is QB needy. So instead of the 5 teams I mentioned earlier, youre now dealing with 6 or more. Lets "trust the process".

Yeah see we will just have to agree to disagree. Even if he becomes a Pro Bowler, I still disagree with trading what we traded when its clear we didnt have to.

Anyway, hope Mac is the goods. He better be.

Call me a crazy fool:

If SF indeed wants to trade Jimmy, they could trade him plus Armstead and a 3rd rounder to Carolina for Darnold, whom the Niners originally targeted before trading up. So essentially, Carolina would end up getting Jimmy, Arik, plus a 3rd rounder for the assets they gave up to get Darnold (a 2nd, 4th, and 6th rounder). Win-win for both sides.

Word around town is that Carolina wants Justin Fields bad and could be open to dealing Darnold. Ain't no way Carolina gonna have 2 young QBs (Darnold and Fields) compete for the starting spot and waste the other's talent by having him be a backup. Instead Carolina would trade Sam for Jimmy and start Jimmy G with Fields ready to take the starter role as soon as Jimmy either gets hurt or shows he's incapable.

Niners draft Pitts at #3 and now you got both SoCal QBs in Darnold and Rosen to fight for the starting spot.

To me getting Darnold and Pitts is much better than drafting Jones at 3 and keeping Jimmy.

I ain't placing no bets on this scenario though so don't even try LOL

you goin crazy wit it now.

Hopefully Shanahan is right with the qb, like has been said I would rather have a coach who can fit and adjust their system to a players skills rather than try and find a player that best fits the system without having to adjust the system.

Maybe I’m reaching here. But the Shanahan family is pretty well connected in that NFL coaching circle old boys club.

If Mac Jones is a bust and Shanahan ultimately gets fired. I’m sure he’s confident he can eventually land another coaching job to where if he got fired off screwing this up, it’s not the end of the world to him. So he feels more comfortable being ballsy and going with his the player needs to fit my system approach than a less connected first time coach would who would factor in that if this fails, there might not be another nfl coaching gig in their future.

At the end of the day. They decided to trade up in March. They’ve been scouting and following these guys for months and they’ve had weeks to do all their necessary homework and research and vet these guys and find out everything they need to make an informed well rounded pick. There’s guys who didn’t become the trendy popular pick off their combine performance, guys who didn’t win the pre draft workouts, guys who slipped and you name it who were afterthoughts and balled out.

Whoever the pick ultimately ends up being is coming into a good situation which is cause for optimism

the more I think about it, the more i'm willing to accept the possibility of them drafting Mac Jones. Shanny had Nick Mulllens looking serviceable for a few games, imagine what he could do with a young, competent QB who's accurate? whoever they grab, i'm just excited to see how this defense plays next year. new coordinator plus a lot of question marks in the secondary? Hopefully Dre Greenlaw takes that next step and Dre+Fred become an iteration of Bow+Patrick

all i know is, listening to shanny and lynch talk during their pre-draft press conference it's pretty clear that they're not grabbing Pitts at 3, sorry Brosizzlew30.23 Brosizzlew30.23 . Shanny kept saying "we're looking at 5 QBs and we'd be glad to have any one of them" and something like "we know one of them will be there at 3"

Cant wait to see that defense but especially Freddy, Dre and Bosa put on a show next year :pimp:

Anyone down to send Jimbo back to NE for Gilmore and roll with our rookie QB? :nerd:

Also, Shanny signed a 6 year extension last year so I doubt he is or feels like he’s in the hot seat with this pick

ANOTHER BAD DRAFT CREATION?
Good morning gentlemen.

Since ShanaLynch is playing 7D Chess with just about everyone on the planet, here's what I think the geniuses in Santa Clara could have been plotting in recent weeks in order to fk over the rest of the league on Thursday.

And it's the only explanation for why you continue to scratch your head each day wondering why the fk San Francisco would trade 3 1sts only to draft Mac frk'n Jones at #3?!?!?! Why at Number 3?!?! Why not just stay put at 12 since Jones will likely still be available at 12?!!?!

I, too, wondered this. But maybe there's a method to all the madness.

If we look at the first 21 picks, it's safe to assume that all 5 QB's who are on ShanaLynch's big board may not be around by pick 15.

The Hype is Real, they say. Supposedly.

JAX will get Lawrence. NYJ will nab Wilson. Then there's Fields, Lance, and Jones who'll be up for grabs for the rest of the QB hungry squads.

Within the first 21 picks, it's also safe to assume that the teams likely to take either Fields, Lance, or Jones after Lawrence and Wilson go 1 and 2, are SF at #3, Denver at #9, New England at #15, Washington at #19, Chicago at #20, and possibly Carolina at #8. The Panthers, however, just picked up Darnold's fifth year option so it's likely the Panthers will stick with Darnold and pass on a QB. CAR could also trade down to a team wanting to draft Fields or Lance, like CHI or WFT.

Other than SF at 3, most might see Denver and New England as the only other teams left picking between 3 and 15 who will likely draft the remaining available top QBs after Trevor and Zach are gone.

For ShanaLynch, here's where they go from 4D to 7D chess.

Say Denver takes Lance at #9. And let's just say Chicago or some other QB needy team like Washington trades up to get Fields. By the time Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, and Lance are gone by pick 14, Bill Belichik will have an important decision to make: draft Mac Jones to be their new QB of the future or Trade the pick to SF for their former QB of the future Jimmy G and a 3rd rounder. After months and months of rumors about Porn Star taking his talents back to Boston, it finally happens.

When it's all said and done, San Francisco picks Kyle Pitts at 3, trades Jimmy plus a 3rd rounder to New England for the rights to draft Mac Jones at #15, and Kyle ShanaLynch ends up shocking the world by having their cake and eating it two (Mac & Pitts).

2 more days....
