the most important thing i saw with kap was he had "quiet feet" for most of the game. he had a nice wide stance and his feet were married to his eyes. he wasn't crossing over his feet or keeping his feet close like he has in the past. he was doing a good job finishing his throws and stepping into them, but he's still a little too inconsistent in that regard. his throwing mechanics are still funky, but he absolutely looked poised and comfortable. credit the O-line as well for keeping him clean.

i saw acker playing many different coverages, but i really need to see an all-22 to really comment on that. mangini just gives too many looks. dude is a player, tho.

tank was in on passing downs, and I definitely saw him getting after the QB. i was very impressed with the pressure our line was generating throughout the game. sooo deep at d-line.

i was wrong for talking down on bruce miller during the offseason.

he was awesome last night; he's still the best FB in the game.

Ready to see what Mike Davis can bring. Dude looked great in the preseason. Should've played yesterday. I know everyone is high on Hayne, but he is the least talented rb we have imo. And I'll rather have Bruce fielding punts. I think the 1-2 punch with Hyde and Davis would be a lot for teams to handle. 2 physical and explosive rb's all game.
Hopefully this Sunday they get T Smith involved more.

Great analysis by red and others in here.  Props.

One thing I haven't seen people discuss yet (and am not sure how obvious this was on the TV broadcast as I have not seen it)......

Our field goal kicking coverage is going to be a major problem.  Yes, I know everyone saw the blocked field goal.  But I am not even focusing on that.  EVERY SINGLE field goal or extra point attempt was incredibly close to being blocked.  2+ defensive players would bust through our blocking EVERY time resulting in a near block.  Was this noticeable on TV?  This absolutely needs to improve.

Yep, I noticed that as well. Seems like special teams was playing lazy on the offensive end all night... they did very well defensively.

Usually the first week is special teams nightmare in which you'll see a lot of block punts, FGs. But you won't read this though cuz you blocked me.

Same ol kaep. Doesn't step up when he throws. Horrible mechanics. Glad he's making his read but outside of boldin no WR caught a pass. I'll watch the coaches tape when it get release, but I think they only run a handful of formation with the same route. I mean they were all working specially the roll out with the TE cutting across the field. I was more surprise that there weren't more play action specially the way HYDE was running. Ill put more once i get to watch the tape. 1-0.

Doesn't step up when he throws? same mechanics? I don't know what game you were watching, but there were plent of plays where he climbed the pocket with smooth, controlled hitch steps, remained composed and kept his eyes down field.

you do realize they were in 22/21 personnel majority of the game? That's why most targets down field were tight ends and not WRs..

Because there were sooooo many blocked field goals and punts around the NFL this week. :rolleyes

Not even going to comment on your outstanding Kap analysis.

i didn't mean by that, i meant that the footing still the same. Over and under thrown balls were the same and thats usually happen when you don't step into to the throws. Am i glad that he somewhat know the defense were throwing? sure. but from what i heard through this whole off season is that hes working on his mechanics and footing but i guess kurt warner can only do so much.

first of all, over throwing and under throwing are not synonymous. over throws are generally a byproduct of overstriding; underthrows are generally a byproduct of not finishing your throw. so, which one are you claiming was demonstrated?

just fyi your wrong as ****. his footwork looks vastly improved. he just needs to keep drilling it so it becomes ingrained in him.  with his footwork improving, his throwing motion is the biggest issue remaining. he's still using that slinger throwing motion with a loopy trajectory. i  think it hinders him on anything vertical outside the numbers especially to his left.

another one to davis

this is all in the first quarter only and check his foot. which drives me nuts because he used to play baseball.

cant determine much from a still

#1/2 looks good. hips are open, knees bent. cant tell how he finishes a throw from a still tho

#3 just looks like a rushed throw from trying to avoid a defender

all those throws are to his left, which i already pointed out is his weakness due to his throwing motion

one negative i can determine from those stills is the wasted motion in his throws. that throwing motion will continue to be a problem with certain throws

Yes I was gonna say he looked better throwing the ball... Few times he stepped into the pocket, also didn't run when he had the chance to and made his throws

Only thing about the offense, they have to change their look and throw a bit more... Vikings were stacking the box a lot from what I seen

i am not sure how you can watch the game last night and see absolutely zero improvement in the quarterback unless you're being deliberately pessimistic just to be pessimistic.

the #1 thing kap needed to improve in the offseason was his footwork and he did. it showed. he's ALWAYS been able to go through progressions; his issue is inconsistency. people just keep regurgitating the same garbage without watching the games.

his throwing motion is still a work in progress. sometimes i see it, sometimes i dont.  i am sure he's still thinking about it when hes throwing, and when the bullets are firing, its human nature to resort to doing what you feel comfortable doing, which is that loopy slinging motion. as long as he keeps working it, he'll be ok.

ZBS+read option+bootlegs=feast mode

this is going to be a beautiful marriage

I thought Kap looked good last night. You could tell he worked to improve his mechanics this offseason. I think he's going to have a good year.

It was also great to see Bowman play, too.

Did Wright even play yesterday?

I don't remember seeing him at all :lol

Good to see Jimmie Ward out there making plays as well

Got a lot of young talent out there :hat :hat

shareece wright's bum *** was inactive. hopefully he stays there the entire season.

of all the players on defense that saw the field yesterday, the only players baalke didn't draft or sign as UD rookie were brooks, dorsey and bethea. that's crazy. almost completely homegrown defense.

TRENT BAALKE DA GOD
