Nobody is saying hes above the crticism. But saying he should be on the hot seat a bad year after 4 consecutive NFCG and 2 SB appearances is dumb to me. Great coaches do adapt and Kyle has done that, which is why he's had success with both Jimmy and Brock. He's gone from being a running team, to a YAC team, and this year the team was leading the league in deep completions. Of course there's room for improvement but they've been able to sustain success for a bunch of years now and I fully believe he can get us back on track next season.Injuries or no injuries. They should’ve won the Rams, Cardinals and Seahawks games. They were in control of all 3 of those games until late in the 4th quarter. Injuries weren’t why they lost those games. Hell if they simply win 2 of those games, they’re comfortably in first place and in control of the division right now.
Kyle is a good coach. Even if he ends being the fall guy at some point here. I’ll still think he’s a good coach. He’s also not above some major self reflection and being receptive to valid criticism to fix some visible key flaws he has which are preventing him from being a great coach.
Sorrenson is the defensive coordinator. But Kyle ultimately hired him and Brandon Staley. This is a veteran team but they commit way too many undisciplined penalties for a veteran team. That’s a reflection on coaching. The main critiques of Kyle Shanahan are all valid takes until he gets over that final hump. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach in any way. But the great coaches adapt and evolve.
They absolutely should bring him back next season. But there’s room for improvement on his end.
