No introductions will be needed when the new San Francisco 49ers head coach meets with his players for the first time in the coming weeks.

Jim Tomsula, the team's defensive line coach since 2007, already has an established relationship with most, if not all, of the men on the current roster.

Here's a collection of quotes from 49ers players over the years on the new leading man in San Francisco.

"He will make a great head coach. Number one, he knows what the heck he’s talking about and, number two, he has the personality to go with it. A lot of times those don’t always match up.

 I think Trestman is a great teacher and coordinator, and the fact that he is a student of Bill's is a plus. He did a damn good job when he was with us with Steve Young and in Oakland with  Rich Gannon. Trestman is like Norv Turner: Good OC, bad head coach. He's an eccentric dude, but his football acuity is real.

Head coaches are leaders of men, managers of egos and I dont think that was Trestman's strength.

To repeat what Damon was saying......

If Tomsula is so well loved, shouldnt the assistant coaches want to stick around and coach with him? Isn't it kind of telling that none of them are staying?

 Sounds to me like they're being relieved of duty. I know you know it's standard procedure for the new head coach to bring in his guys.



I wouldn't worry about what Damon has to say. Dude doesn't know **** about football lol. none of the dudes on the radio besides Greg Papa and John Middelkauf do. 


Doesn't sound like Tomsula will have trouble finding coaches.

Tomsula is one of the most respected coaches in NFL. He will be quite popular with asst coaches looking for work at Senior Bowl next week.

At the end of the day the question marks or offense were still going to be unanswered, lets wait until after the draft to see what the team really looks like. I really want to hear what his plans are for the offense... Still can't believe they didn't interview him.

As far as all the assistants leaving, yes its typical that the new coach hire new staff. in the case of Vic clearly he has hurt feelings as far as being passed up not sure I would have wanted a coach with that type of attitude as are HC. Sad to see him go but this may work out for the best if Vic really feels "he's the man"

Who knows.  Everyone has to start somewhere. Look at John Harbaugh. Dude had only been a freaken special teams coach before his ascend to head coach. Nobody questioning that move in retrospect.

He was an interim at one point

They mustve had some backdoor deal, where they just held him in the pocket until it was his time
