Why would starting Trey be considered “rushing” him?? He IS the 3rd overall pick who was acquired by trading 3 other first rd picks. In what world are some of you living in???

Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes both said it took them several years of playing experience to really start understanding defenses and coverages. They relied on their natural abilities while they learned. The only way to do that is TO PLAY. The only way Trey is going to learn and figure **** out is to play. Period.

It's not the only way. But I understand your point. Experience > "Soaking up the playbook".

If he truly is that talented, he'll be fine.

He hasn't played a meaningful snap in how long? This is a SB ready roster, and you want a rookie who hasn't played in over a year to come in and lead us immediately? Jimmy has proven he can do that. Trey just needs time. When Kyle thinks he's ready then I'm ok with that.

Yea were trying to win the division and get the #1 seed and the bye. Not trying to have a rookie learn while the team tries to accomplish those goals. Plus I think the vets wouldnt like the move. They have Jimmy's back for this season at least. Look at who gives us a better chance to win right now vs looking at their physical attributes.

he’s only played one meaningful college game in almost 2 years. And still with that, they thought highly enough of him skills/potential/upside wise to trade up and draft him with the 3rd pick.

That said. Having played only 1 game in almost 2 years is pretty big. And going from the NCAA to the NFL, even if it’s the Lions in week 1, it’s a pretty big increase of quality of the opponent.

I’m totally fine just starting Jimmy. If come week 10 Jimmy is still the starter, the team is likely playing very well and Jimmy is playing good which increases his value. If Jimmy gets hurt or plays underwhelming, it’ll be Treys time at some point this season.

The 49ers situation with a win now roster is different than the Jets and Jaguars where they’re more inclined to start their guy from day 1.

Hey, I’ve accepted we are going with Jimmy. I don’t agree with it but it is what it is.

Yeah, the playing time is a big factor. He's kind of like the Niners' James Wiseman. A lot of talent/upside, but not enough reps to fully get comfortable and be trusted yet.

I say Jimmy gets the first 4 games to get us to 3-1 or 4-0

If we're 2-2 and Jimmy has as many INTs as TD passes and we are 100% healthy, porn star gets benched and the Trey Lance show begins.

I'm watchin

PLEASE DONT EVER USE THIS COMPARISON AGAIN

You’re sounding alittle too emotionally invested to start arguing over a comparison.

I think it’s a fair comparison. Both don’t have experience At the moment to fully compliment the team.

And you’re already saying Wiseman is a goofy big man? Okay.

Wiseman looked lost the entire time he was in the lineup. He is also nowhere near being a leader on the team. As soon as Trey plays, he’s already a leader. He’s the franchise Qb. He has already shown glimpses of that in his early preseason play. Wiseman never showed any of that. To call Trey the “Niners James Wiseman” is irresponsible and inaccurate. Yeah ok they both have a lack of college experience. That’s where the comparison ends.

Where did I say that James Wiseman is a leader? What I am pointing out is development and understanding of their respective playbook. It's fair to say Wiseman has shown glimpses that he can be a great player for the Warriors. Not once did I compare him being a leader of the team to Lance's position on the Niners, because it's clearly different.

Both lack college experience. Both are new to their coach's gameplan.

To say Wiseman was 'lost the entire time he was in the lineup' is actually irresponsible and inaccurate.

But please, continue to lash out over a simple comparison because your QB choice isn't starting week one.
