when I watch Sean Smith get burned time and time again, it makes me wonder if you can ever trust spending big money on a FA corner. Dude got breaded out after playing in a dominant system in KC and now that he's playing with a DLine that barely gets to the QB, dude is lookin like DJ Hayden's twin

unless he's named sherman, talib, or revis, it's safe to assume that corners are only as good as their front seven

a lot of fans completely ignore scheme. scheme is everything. some guys might be elite in one scheme, but be completely terrible in another.

revis is the only CB I would have broken the bank for. his skill set is special and transcends scheme. he's not the same anymore, tho.

Red, completely agree... Players benefit from playing in schemes they're comfortable with, also benefit from the people around them

A lot of players suffer from this when they change teams

bruce irvin is another one of those players people were upset about lol. people were geeked over a "pass rusher" with 5.5 sacks last season in a defense with an elite supporting staff...

i hate to say it, but i told yall. these dudes were overpaid as ****.

hell yea after looking at those deals FAs got, there was not one single player in the market that wouldnt been worth it for us to sign, that was gonna improve our team significantly. We have a whole bunch of young players with talent that need that time and experience to eventually shine.

Proud of those guys today. Game got away late but Cam Newton is an incredible QB we showed up today.

I think we can vie for a wildcard spot call me crazy.

lol too bad we cant start both kap and gabbert at the same time. kap takes the snap and gabbert tells him where to throw it.

gabbert to torrey TD was a great example of what chip must like in gabbert. he made a full field read on that play. went through multiple progressions and found the safety had left torrey on an island with his CB.

he's just so damn inconsistent. flashes one drive, but misses easily throws the next.

look at the pocket. O-line has been money against 2 of the better d-lines in the nfl.

Was at the game today, I love this team. I feel we played great but cot damn was it hot. I was praying for the clouds to stay over the stadium. Lawd Jesus.

Anyways, i love what we're seeing from our guys, gabbert needs to be more consistent, and damn Trent brown is big as hell.

Man i was telling my girl the same thing about Brown. An absolute monster. Defo and Arik as well.

And my section didnt have too much luck with shade, we were boiling out there. Definitely was an entertaining game though, we were competitive and they gave me something to cheer about so thats all i can ask for with the scheduling disadvantage.

Cool seeing a lot of the players fams after the game. Bellore, Draughn, QP, Kilgore, Brown, Staley, Bethea off the top of my head all had fam reppin. Draughn had a huge squad. The team bus area wasnt as accessible as other stadiums ive been to though (DC, NYG). You had to have a family pass so i was salty. Only got to see Draughn and Bellore up close when they came to let their people in.

First time in Charlotte, seems like a dope little city

I thought the team played pretty good considering that everyone picked us to be completely blown out of the water. If you have a one score game with like 6 mins left then you're doing alright IMO. Kinda got away from us at the end but overall I like that effort just got to cut out those penalties and turnovers and play like they did week 1.

Am I the only one have Alex Smith flashbacks with Gabbert? He does some things well but doesn't have the big, down field play, has a lot of check downs and just missed guys too many times. Was reading an ESPN article and this stood out to me:

"On the five possessions immediately following Gabbert's touchdown pass to Smith, the 49ers' offense managed just 42 yards, two first downs, zero points and five punts. It was a string of drives eerily similar to those of a year ago, when the Niners finished 31st in yards per game (297.6) and last in offensive points per game (14.5)."

"Sunday offered no such hope as Gabbert's inability to consistently make accurate throws was compounded by his two interceptions, a costly Carlos Hyde fumble that resulted in a Carolina defensive touchdown and the aforementioned nonexistent running game. "

Either way this year looks a whole lot better already compared to last year!

There are a lot of similarities between the two. A lot of people forget he's only 26. That's 2 whole years younger than Kap.

He really needs to pick this **** up. He has to make all those easy throws. Stop nose diving balls outside the numbers. He flashes, so that one positive. Put together the flashes, the routine throws, and we're onto something. The line has been babying him. He should feel confident behind those guys.

Doesn't sound good for Ray Ray. ******* bummer. Dude has been a pleasant surprise. He brings a lot of energy to the defense.

The Vance TD was nice.

The potential for TD #2 for Vance was nice...Until he dropped it.

What happened to Ray Ray?

hurt his pec/shoulder. sounds like he tore something.

off topic, but i am really loving what i am seeing from davis webb. could be a player to keep an eye on.

vance has to catch this. gabbert makes a great throw with a defender in his face and drops it right over the LB and S. kind of jeff garcia-esque right here.

another play where gabbert makes the right call. vance was running open.

Yeah, Gabbert added a nice touch to that ball for Vance to catch. My goodness that could have been another TD.
