According to Maiocco, Davis is trying to leverage his absence into a new deal with the team and is apparently willing to forego his $200,000 workout bonus in order to press the issue. Davis has two years left on the six-year, $42.705 million deal he signed with the team in 2010 and is due $9.05 million over that span.
Jim Harbaugh expects a “breakout year” from Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick clearly has some holes in his game, but he’s already pretty good.
But 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh expects his quarterback to take another step this season, which would set him up for well more than $6 million.
“I really expect a real breakout year for Colin,” Harbaugh said, via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com. “Athletically, he looks bionic. If you all remember the ‘Six Million Dollar Man,’ that’s what he looks like to me.
“He’s very gifted and he always has been. He has the look and feel of a guy who’s really going to break out – even more so than he already has. I’m really excited about everything about his game right now.”
Kaepernick has been efficient enough in the passing game to make his running skills (and those of Frank Gore) more valuable, but the 49ers have made a concerted effort to surround him with more targets this offseason.
With Michael Crabtree healthy again and Stevie Johnson added to the mix with Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis and Brandon Lloyd and some young players, there’s a chance they might actually be able to diversify their offense this year.
“It’s something that coach has mentioned to me that you need to be able to do what we do within our system,” Kaepernick said. “And as long as my footwork is good and I’m delivering the ball quickly and precisely, he’s happy with what I’m doing.”
If he can improve as a passer, the decision to give him the massive contract he’s in line for will be easier to justify, even though $6 million might only buy them about five games’ worth.
Jim Harbaugh: Brandon Lloyd showing “surge off the line”

Brandon Lloyd’s return to NFL action looks to be off to a positive start.
After Wednesday’s OTAs, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said he had been “(seeing) really good things” from the 32-year-old receiver, who was out of football in 2013.
“Seeing surge off the line of scrimmage. He’s got the ability to burst at the top of his routes,” Harbaugh said, according to a transcript from the club. “Runs excellent routes. Acrobatic type of catches that he’s able to make. Really good hands.
“So far really good. No, it does not seem like a guy that’s had a layoff from football for a year.”
Harbaugh’s observation that Lloyd has retained his athleticism is not a bad sign for the 11th-year wide receiver, who is one of 11 players at his position on the 49ers’ roster. At best, Lloyd could factor as the fourth receiver behind Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree and Stevie Johnson.
Were Lloyd to earn a depth chart spot, it could knock another receiver out of the mix. Rookie Bruce Ellington, a fourth-round selection, probably stands a good shot at making the roster in Year One, with second-year pro Quinton Patton and fourth-year pro Jonathan Baldwin also in the mix. Also, 12th-year pro Kassim Osgood’s special teams value can’t be overlooked.
However, the 49ers don’t figure to keep eight receivers. And that’s one of the reasons Harbaugh’s remarks are notable. If Lloyd shows he can still run, he’ll help his chances of sticking on a roster, whether in San Francisco or elsewhere.

Bowman was on it too.....and his contract went the other direction after it.Being on the league musta gotten to vernon's head
Im not going to lie, the Vernon situation irks me. Dude is going to be the second highest paid player on the team next year. I do not think the team should give in to his contract demands.

Next man up?
In this case Vance laves a lot to be desired. :\
