:::[Official] San Francisco 49ers 2012-2013 Season Thread - Training Camp Starts July 27:::

Brown is the only DB I have faith in in coverage.

Also need an heir to Justin Smith.

Whitner was awful this year. Will he return?

What to do with Alex? Cut him? Trade?
Tarell is an okay CB2 in my book. Rogers just doesn't have the top end speed to be CB1.

alex is trade bait if possible. i doubt many teams will bite since he'd likely be a cap casualty and they can wait it out so as to not give up a pick.

i didn't think Whitner was so bad this year. what really annoys me is the risk Goldson takes on a unnecessary roughness penalty when he just dives in at the end of a gang tackle.

Im disappointed. Niners didnt come in prepared. Opportunities wasted. 2ndary getting picked apart. Never should be down by 22 points. Yea we almost came back, but why are we putting ourselves in these situations.
There's a lot of things to complain about. But I just hope we take care of business this off season and come back strong again.
Btw wack SB. Wack commercials. Wack halftime show. Wack refs and NFL.
I agree crabs and vd after their catches. Giving me a heart attack.

This game kept me on my toes. Really enjoyed it. I knew this team would make a run. We've seen Kaep do it many times. I mean cats was calling this game over @ 28-6. Im so glad I kept jabbing for my team. Not blaming anything on bad ref calls and not blaming anything on a power outage. You cant loose focus at anytime during a game like this. Bmore dominated the first half and 9ners the 2nd. It always will come down to play calling and execution and Bmore prevailed. Im excited to see what the 9ners do next year.

my boy david akers!!

11 pts, perfect on all attempts (i also do think he got clipped on the one he missed-- although he did sell it, there was still contact from what i saw)

i hope he'll be back.

I'd like to see moss come back, and i think he wants to as well. He came thisclose, i think he gives it one more shot. he can clearly still play.

we need to go for boldin once he a free agent imo
...why?

he'll be 33 and barely creates separation off the line as it is. he's a deft route runner and has nice hops, is tough and gritty but he's gonna be looking to get payed and honestly would not be a good compliment to Crabtree. In fact him and Crabtree are very similiar imo.

he can "still" play but he refuses to. with all that cushion that DBs give him on coverage he should be doing quick slants and curl routes-- because running those routes make him susceptible to contact.

No way I want Moss back given the lack of effort I saw from him in this game. Hopefully Jenkins can step up next season.

Dunno about keeping Akers. I really hope it was his injury that gave him problems; if there's a good kicker out there I think it's worth picking one up in the draft or finding a good undrafted kicker (like the Ravens getting Justin Tucker).

Can't believe we didn't run the read option in the redzone that last drive

yeah probably wise to bring in competition but if Akers is still good when fully recovered from his weird hip/mental issues, why change.

The loss was pretty tough, but the team is pretty young, so there should be more chances at the superbowl. I agree with the secondary needing more work. I'd like to have a bigger CB because bigger WRs seem to force their will on the 49ers in critical times.

Feels even worse the next day

Cant believe how bad the secondary played last night

Need to bring in Revis and Sandcastle

I went to Dave & Buster's to watch the game yesterday and of course, dudes came decked out in Raider and Cowboys gear :lol

Anyways, 9er fans are overachievers and rightfully so. In perspective, this is just Harbaugh's second season. He's definitely on his way to Seifert and maybe Walsh status. Kaepernick is going to be an elite qb, he showed it yesterday. This offseason is when the offense gets to smooth everything out and the receivers can really get their timing right with the QB. They'll be back in the Superbowl in the next few seasons, hopefully when they host it at their new stadium!

well we need work in the DB and pass rusher area...
Moreso DB, pass rushing is ok. When they face bigger, stronger receivers like White/Jones or Smith/Bouldin it looks like the 9ers secondary tries to be overly physical early in the game. This results in penalties and then allows the receiver to pick their spot downfield the next few plays because the DBs don't want another flag. Merton Hanks, Eric Davis and Marquez Pope need to work with the secondary closely this offseason.

People on my s**t list:

Chris Culliver - I dont think I need to explain this one.

Donte Whitner - See Chris Culliver (although much better in second half).

LaMichael James - His fumble was the biggest turning point of this game IMO.

Aldon Smith - Milk carton status. Missed tackles all game long, zero pressure on the QB and pretty much useless all game long.

Greg Roman - Inexcusable playcalling at the end of the game. I heard the 49ers justifications for not calling runs, but I dont care. With Ngata out, I dont care what kind of defensive formations the Ravens were running.

Off-Season plans

Hopefully trade Alex for something useful, hopefully picks.

Find a new kicker

Draft for the secondary in rds 2-4

Draft Keenan Allen out of Cal somewhere in Rd 1, we need WR depth because Randy should not be welcomed back and Mario and Kyle will be coming off major injuries. Not sold on AJ Jenkins yet.

Damn man, this **** hurts like the 2002 World Series !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, nothing will hurt as much as the 2002 World Series.

It was a tough loss. but I personally feel last year's NFC Championship loss hurts more.

Yes, I agree with all that the play calling was bad and that Gore should have had opportunities to run the ball with Ngata out. But it didn't happen and it's frustrating.

This hurts more to me personally. Football is above baseball in my pecking order and to lose a close game in the grandest stage hurts like hell. I'd rather have us lose two weeks ago than be 5-1. That's just me though.

to me last year NFC champ game hurt more. trying to figure it out why..

Idk... Both pretty rough.

That 2nd Kyle Williams fumble was DEVASTATING.

I started tearing up and voice breakin last night tho...

I thought they were gonna come back :(

This one hurts a lot more than last year for me. Last year, I was just happy to be in the championship game, this year anything short of a super bowl was a bust for me. And to lose the way we did...damn, it's going to be a long offseason.
