As Sony's PlayStation continues to dominate the gaming industry, with the PS5 arguably winning this generation’s “console wars,” it's no surprise to see Sony team up with footwear to celebrate its console. While Sony has previously teamed up with Nike for some memorable releases, including the ultra-rare AF1 and Travis Scott Dunk alongside Paul George collabs, the Japanese company is teaming up for a new partnership with Puma. Sony reimagines the Puma RS-X and Puma Suede for their debut collaboration, each inspired by PlayStation's signature color scheme.
This innovative collection is a dream come true for gamers and sneakerheads alike, featuring designs that cleverly incorporate PlayStation's iconic symbols—the triangle, circle, X, and square—into the very fabric of the sneakers. The Puma Suede variants, available in grey and black, boast a suede upper adorned with these symbols debossed across the surface, adding a tactile element that's both visually appealing and nostalgic. The detail extends to a cut-out near the lateral heel, showcasing the PlayStation controller buttons in a subtle yet impactful homage. A special hangtag featuring Puma and PlayStation symbols accompanies each shoe.
The RS-X models take the tribute further with a dynamic gradient pattern on the ripstop base, where shades of blue transition smoothly, echoing the PlayStation's vibrant interface. The same iconic controller buttons make another appearance, this time as cut-outs near the mudguard, on the tongue tag, and an additional hangtag, reinforcing the collaborative spirit. Rounding out the look for all four pairs are semi-translucent sole units, beneath which the PlayStation's button symbols are cleverly displayed.
The PlayStation x Puma Collection will release in 2024 through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Available in full-family sizing, the retail prices have not yet been revealed.
