They’d be absolutely stupid to not make the person with the most delegates the nominee. Dems been saying since 2016 Trump lost the popular vote, how do you follow that up with nominating someone who...lost the popular vote?

Cognitive dissonance

I didn’t quite understand the last question
At the convention, the nominee is chosen by delegates that cast their vote on the convention floor.

There are pledged delegates that are won during the primary elections, and superdelegates that are free to choose who they want.

If someone didn't have the majority the first time around, then other rounds took place where superdelegates could change their vote to get make somebody the winner. This was the old system

The new system, only pledged delegates vote in the first round. If there is no majority to one candidate, then the superdelegates voting in the proceeding rounds.

The question was, if no candidate has the majority of pledged delegates (Delegates they won), should the candidate with the plurality of delegates be chosen by the superdelegates on the second ballot, and declared the nominee.

The Pete/Amy back and forth saved him
If anything is going to save him it’s his money. He got crucified by the whole stage and shot himself in the foot virtually every time he opened his mouth.

But the conversation after this debate will probably focus on Pete v. Amy. The Bloomberg shots slowed down later in the debate

Thanks

I assume the superdelegates would naturally pledge to the candidate with the most delegates after round 1 in a brokered convention. Sounds extremely unlikely, perhaps even delusional, that they would jeopardize the election by going against that.

The democratic establishment CAN'T do ANYTHING, let alone coordinate and coalesce around a single moderate candidate to deny Bernie at the convention?

while Bernies rabid supporter base waits with pitchforks outside?

nah yall dreaming in technicolour. if bernie has the most delegates he will be the nominee.

Yeah, I think people might flirt with going against him but most will do what is smart. If they steal it from Prime, Trump wins right then and there.

Hell I can even see Obama endorsing him on the eve of the convention to make sure everything goes smoothly.

how I scored tonight:

7) Elena -- crying on stage is NOT a good look
6) Bloomberg -- smart of him not to show up tonight
5) Joe -- stop yelling, you have a mic
4) Mayo Petty Pete -- he's our Marco Rubio. kind of makes good points but comes across as whiny
3) The Communist -- he's a bit crazy but we know his crazy so well now that we're ok with it
2) Elizabeth Warren -- she's too smart to be here

and last but not least:

1) DONALD TRUMP, of course

Yup.. DNC gotta be more like republicans.. better to be in power and figure things out and get shh done

And ain’t like they got some great alternative to force it to

Liz definitely won overall tonight which she desperately needed but kind of tough not to feel like she's a bit too late at this stage after losing some gas the past 2 months tbh.

She's gonna get a much deserved boost but Bloomberg straight took the wind out of the rest of the non-Bernie fields sails recently. Gonna be real interesting to see how much of a hit his #'s take after tonight's onslaught.

Still of the opinion that she would've won the primary and election had she ran in '16 but she gave up a whole lot of ground ceding the progressive lane back then and after trying to pivot slightly more to the center lately
