In most places, LeBron would be lynched. Me, personally, I'm a feminists and wouldn't do the "shot gun dad" routine. Seriously that is creepy toxic masculinity at its Tim Allen worse. At the same time, I would be uncomfortable with a 14 or 15 year old dating an adult but once you're old enough to drive, you should be able to own your body outright.
Actually when I have adolescent, minor children by biggest worry about them and sex will be if an overzealous school administrator or prosecutor tries to ruin their lives because they sent nude or even provocatively posed selfies.

Six, seven, eight year old kids belong in coal mines if they are boys and cloth mills if they are girls. Keep the kids out of Hollywood libby beds and bring them into the Work Force.

Most dudes in here are making an objection to a 30 year old plus man's behavior. Not shaming an girl for what she chooses to do with her body.
Yes, society polices what teenagers can do with their bodies too much. To the point they have ruined kids lives, but I don't think it is toxic to want a 30 year old man to stay away from my daughter. I have the issue with the old person's behavior more than anything.
The same way I would not want a Army recruiter calling my kid constantly asking for then to enlist. Statistically yeah my kid will be come out of service or a relationship with an older person unscathed, but maybe that is a risk parents don't want to take no matter the odds.
America just like every other country draws a line in the sand somewhere. I can understand teenagers don't want to go along with it, they are teenagers after all. But I damn well expect a 30 year old man and woman too.
-Regarding your Lebron comment, I don't know why you felt the need to remind a black man that black men get hung from trees for stuff like this, but since you open that door I am gonna walk through it. You make the argument that 14 year old girl should be treated more an adult that is making their own decisions that a child that is guarded iver. But Isn't that how the criminal justice system already treats 14 year old black teenagers?
14 years olds black kids are fully functioning adults in America's eyes to the point that if one of them fights in school, breaks a window with a rock, plays with a toy gun outside or does any even remotely wrong wrong the justice system comes down of them hard. Ruining or even ending their lives
So maybe within the black community their is a strong feeling that 14 year old should be viewed as a child for once, instead of an adult.

First of all, I'm sorry for the sloppy writing. Second, I just don't know exactly how we should deal with a legal adult having non coercive sex with a minor who is a biological adult. Third, I do find it fascinating that a majority of Americans make no distinction between pedophilia and attraction to under 18 adolescents. It seems that there is a huge difference and most Americans refuse to make any distinction.
What I do know is that the age of consent should be lower. No one should have to be considered a felon and be labeled a sex offender because they had consensual sex with a high school junior or senior. Also and obviously, sex with young child must stay illegal and be punished severally. What to do with those who have sex with pubescent young adults, the 13 to 15 year range, I am not sure. My gut says it should still be illegal but the penalty should be less severe than it is now but, like i said, I am not sure about that group.
