Can someone explain why people are going crazy over eggs? I’m asking seriously, not being sarcastic or clever. It has to be just some random item MAGA latched onto, right?

Most typical Americans do NOT have a wide range of food that absolutely need eggs.

I cook a lot of different Asian , Mexican , and Italian food that actually have flavor/ seasoning at home, and 99% of the dishes don’t require eggs. Of course I add eggs to enhance some dishes, but I’m not going to throw a tantrum if I don’t have them on hand. “A runny egg over this fried rice would’ve been “ is the extent of my disappointment.

Eggs have probably increased the most since Covid started of all grocery items. I’d get organic Pasteur raise free range for like 3.50 per dozen at Trader Joe’s. Same eggs go close to $7 now. Now Costco has them for 8.50 for 24 which is a better deal but I don’t always go to Costco for groceries.

But yea it’s something people harped down on and ran with it. White eggs are still cheap though and that’s what most of these beard neck magas eat anyway.

For an entire decade they gave so much financial expertise about “if you Millenials didn’t buy Starbucks, you could afford to buy a house” maybe they should stop spending $200+ on traveling to/attending NFL games and blowing $100 on drinks every week if they want to afford some $7 eggs.

It’s just an easy boogeyman to point to for idiots to eat up, some of the basics of life eggs milk gas etc. and none of them has the critical thinking to understand bird flu or how the president doesn’t control any of these prices.

Like come on…. It’s like seeing a slow moving disaster, and there isn’t anything I can do to stop it. Also just to put McKinley into perspective, he was assassinated, but assassinations of the rich and politicians we’re so common back then most people don’t realize it because it didn’t make a big deal historically. The lifestyles of the wealthy and everyone else was so far apart it was sort of where we are now as a country. Also a lack of food and wildcat strikes were common. Don’t even get me started on how this era low-key set the table for both WW1 and WW2.
