***Official Political Discussion Thread***

New Republic does good work and I’m planning to read this piece, but the clipped part of the article is interesting. This specific way of storytelling seems to conveniently ignore the history of Black people in this country, and also Native folks. The establishment has routinely been supporters of the reactionary moments here . It’s in the fabric of the country’s DNA
Stealing land from the Native Americans and enslaving Black bodies was da establishment

Once upon a time I heard fellow Black people say they vote for Trump because…

“At least I know he’s racist”

Everything that was in Project 2025 is coming to fruition

I mean, two places I would not want to live as a Black man but sure, cook . My point was just that it’s hilarious to hear people from Minnesota speaking like that state is a destination
I never said it was a destination, mn does better than Ohio in pretty much any metric you could pick.

What state do you live in?

I live in NY. But I’m not even talking about a comparison of metrics when comparing the states. I’m talking about the pop culture thing that has been going on for years of Ohio jokes. There’s like 3-4 states I would really even consider living in, and I grew up in Ohio. The other midwestern states are not any of them . Minus Illinois. This is an aside from anything political I just found it funny that someone living in Minnesota would have jokes for Ohio. Personal pet peeve.

ok so it's personal to you, I thought this was a bit odd. :lol

I don't even like mn that much, but it's not a bad state if you're trying to be a homeowner and work. I think about leaving every day but my house is almost paid off and I like my job.

ohio is the new Florida for pop culture jokes, it will pass dude.

dacomeup dacomeup been having to put up with Ohio jokes for nearly two decades on here.

And man has finally had it.

He ain't gonna take Ohio slander from someone that lives beyond the wall.
I’m coming up on living half of my life outside of Ohio now and I obviously don’t have any plans to ever live there again, but I hear someone from Minnesota keke-ing a little too hard and I’m like

Nah, this predates Florida . It’s not that deep at all it’s just something I’ve always found funny about people from less desirable places to live given that Ohio is like the 7th biggest state

here's what I like about ohio, cedar point was fun when I was a kid and the zoo in Columbus

the location is cool, you got lakes in the north and mountains in the south and are in a prime location for road tripping.

Nah, this predates Florida

damn, so you've been dealing with this slander for a long time. I thought it was only recent where it was cool to dunk on ohio.

also the 9 year old who was laughing at me living by ohio street lives in atlanta if that makes you feel better.

I’m being 100% serious here, California should start issuing its own digital currency.

If the Feds are unwilling or unable to guard their currency monopoly against private capital’s prerogative to mint coins, the leading States should also take advantage of that weakness.

It would be acceptable as payment to the State, which would give a massive boast of demand for the coin and therefore more credibility.

In time, there would be more and more market demand, strengthening California’s fiscal hand since the State could mint coins to pay for ambitious housing, healthcare, education, infrastructural, etc.

Play Gallant to the Goofus that will be the Feds under Trump. Let’s mogg the MAGAs with Cali Coin.

dwalk31 dwalk31 as an African American, could argue these things seem racist

America is and always has been a pro-racist nation. Hence why I don't stand for the flag or anthem.

Trump being a bigot doesn't bother people, if anything they like how he can be open about it. It boldens and empowers them. Expect another Charlottesville, George Floyd, Mike Brown type situation to occur in the next 4 years.
