This allows her to avoid a primary fight she can’t win. I am 50/50 she even runs again and by being independent she can “step down” at the end of her term. Plus if she is really cunning she’ll spend the next few years getting cozy with both sises to ensure she gets a nice lobbyist job herself based on her connections.

This was my quick take, too, but on further review I can’t see how she hasn’t burned her brand too much with Dems to be effective on the Hill. Who returns her phone calls? Because once she’s not a pita for Dems, I doubt Mitch has much use for her.

I have a feeling things are about to get very cold for her.
