The Black James Bond alittle feedback on your latest work...
#1 - It's definately the odd ball out the bunch. I think like you mentioned about it being photoshop definitely plays into that the tonal range while allof them have this sort of uncolor corrected film asethetic to them much like Polaroids if you will its just got this odd probably photoshoped sense to it...It's like if you leave a shot untouched you should really just leave it untouched... Also I think it's oddly enough the least descriptive of what ofyour discribing maybe a shot of the store front or inside and the area with pineapple soda's would be more describitive of you idea. The idea of juxaposingthese brief ideas that gives almost an insight into your life I suppose are great but by the same token the photo should then on some level discribe the idea, and it doesnt have to be like super right there like photo of pineapple soda but still that photo reaches with from the image to the text...
#2 - I wish it was in focus and didnt cut off the head of the guy in the background but otherwise I like the photo it fits in with this loose amatuerish (notin a bad way) aesthetic where the tonal range is slightly off the photos themselves seem loosely and casually composed.
#3 - Its alot like #2 the lack of focus here doesnt bother me as much because the idea comes across the same that this your street or neighborhood at night. But in the future i would try a tripod and long exposure to get blured motion but the rest in focus...
#4 - As bad as the exposure is (and maybe thats what you intended) I like photo as well it again falls into this amatuerish aesthetic with the lack colorcorrecting for the incandescent light and just the tonal range of film. Like this could be a Polaroid almost. It has a very real life asethetic to it, likeyour sister braids your cousins hair to with this one light bulb in the back ground like you really bring us into the event as really is...
#5 - There is something oddly strange about this photo I like. It immediately made me wonder if you were shooting fuji film with just how the cool colors popand slight greenish color cast. Only thing I don't particularly like about this photo is how the roof line is cut off, while the 35mm camera was neverreally built to compose thats a kinda ehh.. sorta thing to cut it off like that. Otherwise I think its argueably the best as far as image playing against text.just like this odd starkness that with this off beat text, "broken lawnmower in my aunt's backyard " that just seems so fitting...
#6 and #7 - #6 I like because it the depth of focus makes sense. Like you focus on the cue ball when breaking. And the low angle plays off that quite well. #7is ehh.. it's not bad but next #6 it's doesnt add anything, maybe if it was a shot of the pool hall or told us something more that what we alreadygained from a better photograph #6...
#8 is like the #7 in the #6 vs #7 relationship to #5 its just kinda of ehh.. there is nothing remarkably interesting and the text just like another photo frommy aunts backyard, not a whole lot of interest. And its oddly composed strangely enough might be one of my the more well exposed photographes but nonethelessit does very little for me...
