someones mad...seriously...you called it upon yourself posting that much pics....u ever heard about QUALITY > QUANTITY?
was posting that many pics supposed to bother me? i'm sorry it doesn't.

and i deleted at least half of what i originally posted. thats why it says "edited"

and yes i've heard of quality > quantity?

its all quality to me and i couldn't care less if you think they are or not.

but i did take into consideration the amount of pics i post.
are you done acting like a 12 yr old? or are you 12? in that case you are excused.

I've been inspired with the ring shot (from the previous page), I'm going to have to borrow that! Anyways, I'm always lurking in the thread butrarely participating... nothing major but for the sake of contribution...

not much up as of now (or nothing major) besides daily snapshots because I decided to hit the "reset" button on my Flickr page.

I'm just going to say this and if you want to get bent cause I say this or just totally ignore that's on you. And end of the day do you, cause I triedto change it how *#@+ went in this thread and it doesn't work.

This whole pissing contest %!+%*$@* about posting as many images as you feel like or think are a quality is *@$+$!! ******ed. I don't really post in thisthread cause I don't like a lot of the *#@+ that goes down in it. Case in point. But really alot of NT comes into this thread and looks at the work thatpeople make.

Some of you probably wouldn't believe the number of PM's I've gotten from people who've never posted once in this thread that are like "Isaw your work in the photo thread or I went to your flicker, you work is dope, etc." and I would assume some of the more regular and "better"photographers get those PM's as well. It's nice see your own work appreciated. But the fact of the matter is not everyone has either the patience orinternet connection to look at *@$+$!! 4 dozen images a page.

I have cable internet connect but J PayCheck's image didn't load and purely out of curiosity I opened them in a new window and sure enough "TipicoDominicano Restuarnt" and "Canal St." are far and away my favorite images on the page. And I was quite amused from the unexpected"bonus" as well. My point is this, that's this thread functions as display of work, it's like the glass case in your grammar school hallwaywhere you get to show your art work. Everyone shines if people have the decency to "share that space" knowing that if you post 2 dozen images in posta: average person isn't going to go through all that *#@+ to get to anything worth looking at. b: for the average internet connection, it might not allload or load fast.

It's like if an art museum just crowded in as much work as they could would be people spend time to look at each work? no probably not. The same is truehere.

It's simply put rude to try whether purposely or otherwise to overload this thread with your work. Clearly no one who regularly posts in this thread otherthan maybe KingCrux has the power to stop you but, I don't think it's too much to ask of anyone that if it's not a concise edited body of work thatconveys a singular set of ideas or concept I don't see any reason why anyone should be posting more than like 4-5 images at the most and even then I thinkit's rude to post more than dozen. If people like your work they'll be able to tell in 4-5 images and can look at your flicker if they want to seemore. It's not a difficult concept and it works quite well.

i'll only post a few more here and there and then i'm done. no feelings hurt whatsoever.

I would (and hopefully the bigger part of you) be happy if everyone can just post one or two shots that they really like and maybe c&c can be reintroduced. As of now I think nobody really appreciates what is being posted here more than that there are just random 'alright' photos uploaded. You justcan't take it in because there too much randomness in my opinion. It would also be a good thing to give c&c once in a while, I know I haven't beendoing it a lot but to post 1 photo, give 2 c&c's or something like that can be good for this thread? Can't we set up some rules in order to raiseor standards a bit?

but standards are judged by those who post.
if someone thinks highly of their photograph they are going to post it.

did you have a pre-judging pm idea or something?
i agree with to some extent, but empty ideas go no where. whats the plan?

this is a freaking photography post. post whatever photography you want.

do we have thread rules now on NT?

damn, it ain't that serious. if you can wait 10 mins for your porn to download, i think you can wait about 40 seconds for all the pics to load up.

We are in need of a leader, Ebay come back!!
wink.gif

I suggest:

*Post 1, give 1

*Post no more than 3 photos at a time

*No more posts with photos taken inside your house/backyard unless you have an idea behind your photo.

all valid except the last one.
i don't agree with the rules, but i see that they are valid concerns which in turn could create a rule but not the last one.

i don't think its right to infringe your opinion of "photography" on every one else. its an opinion and opinions are like a-holes. everyone hasone and they are all different when it comes to the same subject.

My insight on the subject.

- Let people post what they want as far as content. Trust me, I look photography books everyday and wonder about some of the work I see that a: costs quite abit of money b: has been shown in some pretty upscale and legitimate places and c: most importantly is held in reasonably high regard by a lot of the artworld. So I nor is anyone is this post have room to judge the merit work. I can not like something, but that doesn't mean it's bad or unworthy. It mayinfact be that and more than likely is in the case of this thread but still...

- All I was posting about has been squared away about setting a limit on the number of photos people show in a post. It's simply a function being polite. If there were 10 posters on each page and they all posted even 8 images that's 80 images. I like photography a lot, and I wouldn't look at all 80images on a page beyond maybe scrolling through them. If you just want your work scrolled through, well then I feel for you. Wholly aside from the loadingissue.

- If you can take what you think is a "good" photograph then you at least on some level have an idea of what a "good" photograph is.Meaning you can critique someone else's work even if on simple level. I've always thought this thread had quite bit of potential that was pretty muchignored, as far as sharing thoughts on others work constructively rather than just sharing work and leaving it be.

There's a couple people who post in this thread who PM me about thoughts on their work or various questions and most of the time and knowledge permittingthey get answered so while I can't and don't want to try to make this thread what I think it should or could be the PM thing I have going seems to workfor me. I have no interest in "leading" this thread, it just leaves some people bitter or people just ignore/disregard and as I have no realauthority nor want any it doesn't work so.

my pops is a retired photography teacher. he's spent tons of his own money buying equipment/chemicals for, building and upkeeping the darkroom in the highschool that he taught in. he forced me to learn how to roll film by feel so that we could save money. in only the past 3 years has he begun to use a digitalcam. he's super passionate about photography and has some very particular views on photography (light, composition, film vs digital image etc.) but he isstill very good at encouraging aspiring photographers rather than being discouraging. he would laugh at some of the comments on here.

I still like the idea of having a specified theme and have people take some pics and share, critique etc etc. I think ebay suggested somethinga few pages back but it was probably a little too advanced and complicated for people to grasp, including myself.

So I suggest the following theme from now until the end of November: Pictures of your work area whether that be yourcubicle, your classroom or what you do for a living.....

Good theme... look forward to participating... I posted this before and (recently PM it to someone)... Just a thought but I think we should REALLY get an NTGroup on Flickr, where we can C/C, share tips and tricks, answer the redundant questions (Whats exposure, Whats the best cam, How was that effect done? Soon...), share new hardware/software reviews and exp., etc and more importantly assign "homework" or themes (weekly, bi, monthly) that will helpothers and open some creative minds

Of course the thread still stays open on NT for sharing but the group on Flickr be building more

Dunno. Just a thought

^^Good, I like that idea. Themes can be great.

Lets see how it will turn out... (figuring how to shoot the office I work at).

More people who wants to join?

sounds fine.
i'm gonna finish up what i was originally gonna post anyway, then i'll be done.

sorry.

thanks for the love. i appreciate it.

i really can't take a whole lot of credit for the way it turned out.

i was all about not touching my pictures for the longest time. no sharpening, no contrast change, no cropping, no nothing.

but i went through all my photos a few weeks ago and started to do a thing here and there to the ones that i thought were worthy.

this one turned out really dark and dingy, which works for the mood, but i didn't plan it. unfortunately. i was riding on a bud in Bankok Thailand when itook this photo. so not only was it taken moving 50+ mph, through a window, but it was extremely overcast.

i tried to brighten it up a little with bringing the contrast up a few points, but the way it naturally turned out for the mood it gives off worked fine.

same thing happened on the one i posted above - "Tiiiiiiiiin Roof........RUSTED!" - they were probably within a mile or less of each other. it was solong ago that i can't remember.

This is what happened when I was a kid and shot film with some old crappy camera. I got photos that were really not so good technically but they had a feelingin them that you don't get nowadays shooting digital. Mostly its of course due to the far better equipment I got now but also in cases when you mess thingsup by mistake (blurry photos or if the whitebalance is off), you delete those photos right away (or at least I do) and correct the settings to get the resultyou want. (Ok I wouldn't delete a photo with off w/b as I shoot RAW but you get what I mean
smile.gif
). Funny thing is that I now 20 years later try to capture afeeling like that in Lightroom.

Anyway heres another one.
