Quickster - I just recently updated my gear with some 430ex (I and II) flashes and V2s to trig them. I have been doing some practice as well and I like some of the photos I get with this technique. My question is if you use umbrellas, diffuser or just regular omnibouncers? For the photos above for instance.
I guess it will be a lot of more $%+% to carry around if you want the umbrellas with the tripods and everything. Photos seem to come out great with just the omnibouncers, or what is your opinion about that?
Thanks

For low light shooting, you want to set the ISO higher, 800 is decent on the D40, have the aperture wide open (f/3.5) or (f/4) I think is the maxon the 55-200VR, and make the shutter speed slower. Sometimes, you can get away with just messing with one or the other, for example, just change ISO and seehow it turns out, if its still underexposed, change the aperture, and if its still too dark, use a longer shutter speed, but you have to have a steady hand, ora tripod. The VR also helps a bit.Originally Posted by 10 Piece Nuggets
Real simple pic, just got a 55-200mm VR zoom for my D40. I like how it came out. Also, when theres not enough light, you increase the shutter speed? Or tinker with the f-sto. Sorry im a newb at this.

I shot at f/5, iso 1600 and i metered the lights above the dj's head so they would be a bit overexposed.Originally Posted by Lance With Antss

Dope first shot. What kind of settings do you use for a shot like that?
