I tried to slow down the shutter speed to get the motion blur on the wheels but my panning isn't up to par yet so things were just coming out blurry.

Nikon is hard at it also. With the recent release of the D700, and now the D90 peaking out with basically a D300 sensor, 3inch LCD, HD Movie mode!!!!, and abunch of other goodies.
