The Tokina 11-16 is also my favorite. You can't go wrong with the constant f/2.8 and great build quality. I thought the 12-24 was okay but there wasway too much CA imo. Any ultra wide-angle lenses are prone to flare, that's why when you use a filter, use a multi-coated filter. I actually use my 11-16w/o a filter.

I beg to differ...I own a Sigma 10-20mm:

I even heard that the Sigma fisheye is damn near Canon quality at a better price. I know the rule of thumb for a lot is to stick to the same brand as thecamera that they have but a lot of cameras are getting better with what they have.
Oh....any word on a Canon upgrade on the 40D or something around that model. I want to (already) upgrade on a camera but I don't want to knowing thatsomething is going to come out. Thanks!

Nah Sigma makes pretty good lenses, they are cheaper than a lot of Canon lenses with similar build quality. Of course L series canon lenses are better butif you compare similar focal range lenses from Canon and Sigma in they are pretty much equal with some being better than others. I have a 70-300 Sigmatelephoto which is not a bad lens at all by any means for the price range. Although i will be upgrading to the 70-200 F4 L later this year.

If I were to get a fisheye, it would be the Tokina 10-17mm. The only fisheye with adjustable focal lengths.

Rumors are that an update to the 40D (most probably going to be named 50D) is set for next spring around April. Once I get my 40D at the end of the month, Iwon't be looking at bodies for a while. It's going to be all lenses, particularly ones from the L-series, from now on.

Pretty much the same for me, i just got my XSi a couple months ago and i won't be upgrading for awhile. Didn't want to drop over a grand for an40D, the XSi was my first digital SLR, had a film rebel Ti from a few years ago that i rarely used. XSi is more than enough camera for me and when i outgrow itthen i'll upgrade and keep it for a backup or second body if i'm really into it still.

now that i have my 40D, ive been looking at different lenses. i cant wait to start learning about some of the ones you guys mentioned.

unfortunately, my new 40D was wrecked yesterday. some drunk girl spilled beer all over my stuff. so, im effed for a little. Amex is covering the damage, butill be without my baby for a few weeks. im coming to NY in a week and really wanted my camera with me...

hopefully i can beg my brother to let me borrow his xti.

yeah man...been super busy. I started coaching my son's basketball team and also been playing ball 3 times a week. By the time I get home, I gottaeat, do some chores and then straight to sleep. I've only been taking pics at special events...like the wedding pics a couple weeks back. I haven'teven gotten a chance to take pics of my son's bball games cuz I'm coaching. Maybe one of these nights or weekends I'll go out by myself andexplore.

The only problem that I am having with getting the Tokina fisheye is the f-stop only going to 3.5. I like shooting in low lit places so I think it will beideal to get the Canon one but I really don't like the distortion on that thing. I have been going back and forth on deciding this for the past 3 months onthis.....it bugs the crap out of me cause I am know I am dropping some loot on this thing.

Those seals up there are awesome. I wish I could be a lazy bastard and just chill all day.

And dope to see J20 and Jaw Knee. Shoot some stuff dude.....always liked your stuff.
