Do it bro. Honestly getting him a puppy was the best thing. He's always got someone to play with and when they get big, something to watch the house. I too was a messy person but having them (child included lol) has taught me to clean almost constantly

RESPECT to the NT fathers!! Esp the single dads that handle their business the right way!

Father to an beautiful 8yr old here!!  Here is a quick shot of her and I at the mall..

and here is another quick shot of my daughter, wife and I...

So like I said my wife is due in August, I recently went into Babies r us to get an idea of what we would be needing and I had no idea there was all that much baby stuff to buy. I started getting cold sweats thinking about how much we're going to have to drop just in preparation. I know we won't need everything in the store, so dads please chime in, what are the must have in preparation for a baby?

Bibs, diaper cloths and onesies . You're going to use ALOT of these. Diaper genies are a waste of money. Just tie the diaper up in a Walmart bag and take it outside. Had a bottle warmer, never used it. I will recommend getting a 'co sleeper'. It's a bassinet that has a fold down side so you can push it next to the bed and its like the babies sleeping with you without the fear of rolling over on him/her

I have a 15 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. I am 32 years old.

I started very young, but having my son was a blessing in disguise. I was a young star athlete and I thought I was invincible, but having a son really humbled me and made me become a man. There would be times in high school where I would score 25 points in a basketball game, and that same night instead of going to a party to celebrate, I would be making my son a bottle and walking him around the block in his stroller trying to get him to go to sleep. I needed the responsibility that came with being a father.

It was a struggle from the start, but everything is good now. I NEVER thought I could make the sacrafices and be as selfless as I have been for other people. Being a father has taught me so much about myself. I love it. My son is now in the 10th grade, and there is NO feeling like sitting in the stands watching him domimate a jv basketball game, knowing how far we have come. It is an unexplainable feeling.

And as for my daughter... she is just an absolute bundle of joy. Seeing her develop character and integrity is something special. I have groomed her from day 1 to be savvy and smart and a free thinker who cannot be manipulated, and she is becoming a thorough young lady right before my eyes. I am so proud of her. It melts my heart when I will be doing somethig random like washing the dishes, and she will for no reason come up to me and give me a hug while putting her head on my chest. Being a dad is the best.

thanks for the info, what about furniture? I was thinking a crib and bassinette are a must. What about the recliner for breast feeding, is that important?

Nope. My wife breast fed and all you really need is a blanket to cover the baby when feeding in public, a gang of (I forgot what they're called exactly) breast pads to catch the leaks when not feeding, and an electric breast pump. It's faster and easier than a manual one.
As far as furniture goes. We hardly ever used the crib. A highchair is good if you're an eat dinner at the table kind of family. If not, a saucer(a walker that doesn't roll) will work just fine. One of the best thing we got for the kids when they got a little older and were feeding themselves was a little tykes picnic table. They can sit there and be "big boys" at a table their size. And it's plastic so it wipes off real easy
