Basically. It's where we are w/sneakers right now, not just KDs. Not even worth getting aggy about it b/c it won't change anything.

Honestly, I buy just as many non-hyped shoes as I do hyped ones...mostly because I just like shoes

Get out of here with the word hype. Hype conveys the sales are manufactured or because of the status of buying these over the past ones. It's not about hype, it's about a legitimately more attractive design as determined by most of the sneaker community. Deal with it, but stop blaming the lack of availability on hype. I know numerous people who are copping IVs in GR and LE CWs bc they want to wear them. Maybe there are more resellers poaching these, but there are more resellers poaching everything over the past year. Thats not the vast majority on here though, so it gets old having these jaded KD1-3 fans tell everyone else this is all for hype and to resell. It just sounds stupid and yes BUTTHURT (see also: entitled whiners). You think the shoes are hot and so do the rest of us. What an effin shocker, sneakerheads sharing a love of great looking sneakers!

Seriously have no idea what the first underlined statement means.  It might as well be in a foreign language that I am not familiar with as far as I am concerned.

#2.  Plain and simple.  I do blame hype for lack of availability.  That, and the fact that some of the 1st few CWs of the KD4 were severely more limited than their similar counterparts from the 1,2, and KD3 lines- rookies, asg, creams, scoring titles, etc... How else do you explain it when above average or highly desired "limited" colorways of the 2 and 3 were readily available weeks after they dropped.  So the 4 is so vastly better than the 2 and 3 that it sold out in certain CWs in minutes online and instores, whereas Creams and All Stars sat for weeks if not months in certain places??  The argument that the 4 is superior in design, fit, comfort and style to every other previous numbered model is weak, but if you chose to stick with that, fine.  You are definitely entitled to your opinion.

#3.  I don't know who is entitled or acts entitled.  I think there is a genuine frustration that unlike with 1,2,and 3, 4s are near impossible to cop in certain colorways.  It is really a drastic turnaround even based on last year's releases.  It certainly was nice with previous KD releases to know that you liked something and didn't have to jump through hopes to cop it for a decent price.  I don't think many/if any of us who have been through these KD threads feel it a "god given" right to have first crack at every KD (limited or otherwise), but it would certainly be nice to think you at least had a shot.  With Nerfs and WMs, you really didn't have a realistic shot unless you camped, had a major connect, or shelled out serious dough.  If you don't think that newfound public " PROFESSED LOVE" or "HYPE" for this model and the CWs associated with it early on played a part in that, then I think you are naive.  At the same time, I am not losing sleep over it, whining, or calling you or anyone else out over the fact that I didn't get a pair of either- it is what it is- you move on and get the next thing on your list.

In then end, I don't care if anyone or everyone else likes what I happen to like- thats fine, normal, and expected as you note in your last sentence- which ironically makes the most sense to me out of your whole post.  Just like anything else, The KD line has its "loyalists" and those that have been around for awhile now.  Who cares?  I don't think any of us think that makes us entitled to anything.  What is most troubling about your comments is that you seem bent on dismissing the 1,2,and 3, whilst getting crazy over the 4s and arguing that NIKE and Leo Chang finally got it "right" with this 4.  We get it- you don't like the 1,2,3- fine.  You love the 4- great. I disagree with you, and you disagree with me.  Acknowledged.  Just do me a favor and keep your "butthurt" and entitled stuff to yourself. Its childish and just makes you look silly.  In the end, we can all agree that the 4 is great and that hopefully there are enough ASGs to go around for all that truly want them.

What's so hard to understand about that? Hype implies the sales are manufactured, i.e. not real, not by and for people who really like the shoe. If this was all hype, i.e. manufactured by Nike, the press or celebrities wearing the shoes, why did it only happen now? What has changed between the KD3 and 4 in terms of Durant's status or the status of the shoe in popular culture? It hasn't suddenly become that much cooler to wear KD's shoes.

And to the guy that defined hype as people's attitudes and opinions, you need to look up what that word means. By your definition, any well received product, piece of art, etc. is pure hype. By most standards hype is what is not real, falsely created buzz or added excitement that doesn't match the true state of things. It's pretty conclusive that many people on NT like the shoe, regardless of whether they bought previous models or not. People liking an agreed upon great silhouette with excellent colorways is NOT hype. Performance aside, this is the best looking KD shoe. That's why it is now so popular. Can't people get over that fact and just stop assigning false blame to "hype" and "hypebeasts", acting like your life is suddenly so much tougher?

Agreed- and whereas in year's past, it would not be difficult to grab a pair week of , week after, or even a few past release date, my guess is most of them will be gone within first day or two of releasing.

Let me break it down for some of you who think the kd4 just magically appeared out of thin air and everyone agreed it was awesome without any "help"/"hype"
laugh.gif

1. Release the NERF KD 4 in GR type #s without the box, the name Nerf on the tongue, and multiple shots of Wale wearing them prior to release date, and watch 'em sit on shelves like many other GRs currently are and have in the past.
2.  Release the KD Weatherman in GR type #s without shots of KD wearing 'em with celebrity XYZ and watch 'em sit on shelves for a month or two as well.
3.  Release the KD YOTD in #s similar to the above 2 without shots of Leo Chang wearing 'em months back and riding the heels of the previous 2 mentioned CWs and watch them sit for awhile as well.

There you have it, released differently or on a wider scale, these would have mirrored last years "limited" releases and been nearly exactly like the previous 2.  Is it really that hard to recognize this? I don't really care, am not mad, and have no ill will, but this is what it is.

It doesn't change the fact that I love the 4 quite a bit- I have the away CW, yotd, and TB orange.  My favorite at this point may be the TB Orange.  As Keith mentioned, I think I am just as stoked for UT colorway as I am ASG.  In the end, I sincerely hope all who want theirs, get what they are looking for.

Have a great night and a successful All Star Weekend. Out

I think the KDs are by far the best of the AS pack..I have a feeling the resell prices for these are going to be through the roof because of how hard it is going to be to get them and considering how many people actually want them. The BHM pack was limited but I don't feel as though the demand was as high, a lot of resellers scooped em up. That being said..I REALLY hope I get lucky on NDC. Not even gonna waste my time trying for the foams or Lebrons. Has anyone seen a preorder for these for a reasonable price?

Not feeling the Texas or Easter colorways. More for the NT fam

I'll cop the ASG one way or another though, I'll try for them on NDC but if not I'll most likely cop as long as resale doesn't break $180.

Dude, YOTD are still sitting in my area, and BHMs were easy to come by. You guys are something else, living in some reality distortion field that apparently helps you sleep at night blaming the booeyman who now wears skinny jeans and coke bottle frames. Limited availability doesn't change an increased demand due to a better model. Your argument amounts to, "limited availability created hype on all of these and now we can't get them." I'd argue the demand due to better designs was the reason production numbers were too low. Also, Durant had PEs of Nerfs and Weathermen, and when they were put in production (pre NBA season) Nike didn't expect huge sales. YOTD have been relatively easy to come by for a so called limited release. Nike is most to blame, not hypebeasts. Also, try low sales numbers of all 3 previous models!

I feel like there's a better chance in getting the KD's than Foams or LeBrons via NDC.. and it's a good thing they all release together. I don't care if the site crashes again for hours, I will be glued to the screen like I was for the Cement IV's... Well I played 2 games of 2K12 while trying but still!
I pre ordered for a little over 200... I figure if I get my retail KD's I'll just try to get my money back from the pre order. And if I strike out, 200 beats resell price. I carefully calculated this plan lol

it sooooooooo rare even unheard to see a prototype leak a whoooooooooooooooole year in advance nonetheless i appreciate a good pair of shoes like everyone else isnt that all that matters??
All the other KD's before the IV's were not worth buying in my opinion.  Looked like "made for footlocker joints."  Although there were some that looked good in a certain colorway.  I would not rap my ego around my loyalty to an unattractive shoe.  Ive been a KD fan since his time at Oak Hill which was way before his first shoes.  But it didnt keep me from passing on his ugly $*$ shoes for the last 3 years although some of the III's were pallatable haha.  But now that he and nike figured it out we on..

This. I did not like his shoes at all until this year. The IV's aesthetically speaking crap on his previous shoes.
