I'm not sure why that article wants to separate the initial marketing of the Trainer from the 2012 Olympics. The main colorway, volt/black is the same one that they wore on the podium (minus the USA branding). Of course the initial HTM colorways weren't popular with runners. Why do publications keep having guys write sneaker articles, when they don't know what they're talking about?

Came up on a pair of new B/W Racers today for $200. I recommend for those to who are looking to stay away from ebay. I would hit up the Gram and Twitter look thru hashtags #FlyknitRacer trainers whatever you are looking for. Tons of sellers pop up.

What so special about MC, b/w racers and og white trainers? I'll never get the hype behind it. There are tons of dope cws better than all of those 3 imo. Just my two cents

Pure hype. Both the bw racers and trainers were availbe widely at large discounts. Mc racers were somewhat difficult to get after the initial stock, but heck, I even returned one of my pairs to NDC.

Lol I wear what I like. I don't want a pair of b/w racers, I don't like them. Didn't cop mc trainers because I don't really like the weave (although the blue midsole line was nice). So I guess I'm beasting in the same way I'd be beasting if I wanted a pair of '85 Jordan 1s because I didn't get them on the OG release.

MC Racers are not as sought after as they are because of "pure hype" 
. They're a very unique shoe in a sick colorway. When they originally released they were sort of a niche shoe, which is why they "sat". Nowhere near as mainstream as Racers (and Flyknits in general) are now.
You can make a very strong argument that the black/white Trainers' and Racers' boon is a result of pure hype though. I won't argue against that.
