Padded or not eBay prices are absurd (padded white/black sold for $310?!).
I'm just glad I got mine for retail last summer.

Ever since Nike did away with the padded ankles and oval laces, prices on the OG's have risen.
His friend did the job so he didn't have much info. Here's what he said:It was the tongue. Still looks sick. Would probably look even better with a black Swoosh too though.
Here's the OG post w/ more pics:

He said it was airbrushed and painted with Angelus fabric paint. I might order them when I get home and try it out .
how would one do this? I just ordered a pair of E greens and would love to black out the tongue and swoosh if possible.

If I get a pair I'm gonna do it minus the airbrushing. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Yeah I kinda thought that the paint wouldn't hold up too well due to the nature of the Flyknit. It looks too good not to try though . I just ordered a pair a half size up to kinda limit the stretching and I have some ideas on how to better paint them. I'll let everyone know how it goes once the shoes and paint/supllies are delivered. These were mine. I don't know much about customizing, all I know is he air brushed it using some sort of fabric paint. The paint didn't say perfect for long though since the Flyknit material stretches, so some of the paint came off, but they were still much better with the black tongue IMO.
probably the best idea is to dye them since they are fabricYeah I kinda thought that the paint wouldn't hold up too well due to the nature of the Flyknit. Damn, the dude who got his ordered cancelled twice about to have a fit lmao
Awesome Collection you have right therewaiting for the summer to unds the yellow and the turquoise racers...
Missed wearing my flyknits but temperature over here just doesnt allow it...

I did the same thing to a pair of volt Lunar1's based on these photos. I used Angelus or something similar paint with a fabric softner Golden 900 or something. Anyway, I was happy at first but 3 months later the paint faded and it wasn't worth it IMO. I used a small sponge type brush and went through and through every hole in the tongue. ^he was just correcting the other guy. anyways, nice to see some life in this thread.
QFT. The trainers and racers are definitely meant for those that are familiar with forefoot or mid-foot striking. I also would not suggest them if you over pronate. If your running in these please please know your stride and what your getting yourself into.
These aren't for stability or flat footed runners. Neutral would work, but don't just get these and start running in them and complain they are terrible.
Drymax Hyper Thin: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/Drymax_Run_Hyper_Thin_No_Show/descpage-DMRHTNO.htmlWhat kinds of socks do you guys wear in your Flyknits? I've been wearing Nike Dri-Fit no show socks but they're not exactly no show and they're thick and padded. Anyone have any recommendations for thin no show socks? I think I've seen Drimax recommended before but I'm not sure.
I wish I could go sockless but after a few wears they start to smell too bad. Not to mention this winter has been brutal so I need to wear socks or else I'll have frostbitten toes.
Estimated delivery for my pair that I ordered last night is next Tuesday 3/4. I work crazy hours but hopefully I have either Saturday or Sunday off so I can work on them. I'll post pics in here when I have em done.probably the best idea is to dye them since they are fabric
I was thinking about this. I'll wait until Nick does his before I proceed with mine.
Thanks for the info. Just read some info on that GAC 900. Seems like it could help the Flyknit material take the Angelus acrylic paint a little better.@jondoom blacked out his tongue on his chukka's here's his post on how he did it, if you guys were interested:
Black Sharpies kinda dry purple so I don't think that'd work too well.Hypothetically, couldn't we get pleasing results by using a black sharpie?
I'm asking an honest question, since I've never tried any sneaker-customizing myself.
TIA.
I'm gonna try and stuff the hell out of the shoe so it makes all the holes in the tongue easier to reach with the brush. Also gonna try and look for some sort of finisher to try and hold the color so it lasts longer. Unless they turn into my go-to pair of runners I'm not gonna wear them too often so I'm hoping the paint will hold up for a while. These were mine. For what it's worth.
Those are what I was looking for. Thanks alot . I'm assuming that link is for 1 pair and not a pack of them? What kinds of socks do you guys wear in your Flyknits? Drymax Hyper Thin: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/Drymax_Run_Hyper_Thin_No_Show/descpage-DMRHTNO.html
I wear these exclusively with the Racers and Hyperfeels
Yea, they only sell them in single pairs. Those are what I was looking for. Thanks alot. I'm assuming that link is for 1 pair and not a pack of them?
I've been rocking Nike DriFit no shows but they're pretty thick and they poke out a little bit so they're not exactly no-shows. I've seen a few people recommend these Drymax thin no-shows but they're pretty expensive. I've been looking for some cheap, thin no-shows but I don't think they exist . I'm probably just gonna grab like 4-6 pairs of the Drymaxes. It's not like I wear Flyknits every day so I think that should be enough :\.What socks do y'all rock? Anybody buy in bulk? No show is def the way to go for flyknits but I wanna just buy like a huge pack for cheap
these are the puma ones i mentioned before. i get 3-packs from marshalls for $6 if i remember correctly. i wear these all the time and they're low enough to clear my racers. i'm a size 10 fwiw. What socks do y'all rock? Forgot you posted those. I'm a size 10 too so they should definitely work. I have a Marshall's a few blocks from my house so I'll check and see if they have them there. If not I'll cop online since it's buy one get one half off. Thanks for the info .What socks do y'all rock? Anybody buy in bulk? yea i have a few pairs of stance socks from fieg's releases and they sit just a little lower than the pumas. not trying to pay $10/pair though. only plus side to the stance socks is the rubber part in the back^thanks brotha, definitely gotta pull the trigger on those puma socks.
Here another option as well:

I've heard good things from stance's invisible socks; however price is expensive. Wish they had a deal for bulk.
