Some shoes come with those cardboard inserts but none of my Kobe's ever did. Just stuffed paper. From Foot Locker or eBay.

you're right.
i havent looked at prices lately but they were selling for 220-250 a little after release and quickly climbed to 275+.
i sold a few pairs for 340-380 over a month ago, who knows what they're at now.
they will only continue to rise as pairs are "drying up"
