OFFICIAL NFL THREAD 2024-25: Week XVI “Merry Christmas ya filthy animals”

I don’t get why teams do this.. if you got a guy, pay him early inevitable it will be a bargain real quick
Its not as simple as “pay him” though. Players can, and do, reject extension offers to reach free agency or push negotiations to an offseason when other big names are up for extensions. Easier to do especially if they have endorsement deals.

Obviously.. both sides get their say

But teams can always resort to the tag.. and it’s rare we see guys wrong on their market value given the overlap on agents

And if you don’t wanna pay the guy make a move while you can still get some sort of return

I was curious about this too. It definitely didn't look good in real time.

Watching the replay it's hard to tell 100% whether he was short but his forward momentum might have been just enough for the 1st. However with all those bodies between him it's hard to say definitely he did or didnt get it.

Week 18 SNF game likely ends up being Vikes-Lions unless the Rams lose next week and Seattle wins. That week 18 matchup with Sea vs LA would be a win and in game which generally takes priority.

Is there any news on the Hurts injury?

Would love to see those clown fans who were begging for Pickett a few weeks back, interviewed right now :lol >D

There’s a world where a Saquon rushes for 2k and doesn’t win an MVP or OPOTY.

Wild season.

Same world where this reads 'runaway MVP' for the opposite of conventional wisdom :lol

Had to reflect on the game a bit, specifically Jayden’s performance. He’s legit carrying this team. Had no run support whatsoever against the #1 defense on top of the fumbles…
Two INTs with only one of them being a terrible decision with the cross body throw.

5 passing TDs with the 5th being the cap on a perfectly orchestrated GW 4th quarter drive. Washington… We have our franchise QB

Firesale on the way aNYone aNYone ?

That Purdy contract is gonna make or break Shanny and Lynch

Maybe.

I’ve been looking for silver linings to this season. There’s a few.

Top 10 pick.

last place schedule.

The Purdy contract MIGHT be one. He’s played like boo- boo in big spots. Not all his fault, but the dudes that get what he’s gonna be asking for make it happen.

In reality he should be getting that Baker deal. But that Trevor Lawrence deal screwed things up. We’ll see.

He's the heavy favorite for OPOY in Vegas at least

Which is going to make it easier for ppl to not vote for him for MVP.

It's hilariously dumb but it is what it is

Thing is, I don’t even overly blame dudes with how national media talks about hurts

Chris simms for example had a low draft grade on dude and I shared that view.. but dude did the work and and proved me wrong

My only issue with dude is he needs to get better at the internal clock management and more willing to let it go instead of making for sure it’s there.. but I can’t kill him for it when clock management and sucking away the game on the whole has been huge for us

But makes zero sense playing Pickett if you ain’t going actually run dude on plays designed to account for the QB as a runner

Half of the mvp debate always come from how literally some take the term mvp. It’s mostly arguing semantics. Wish it was just called the player of the year award
