OFFICIAL NFL THREAD 2024-25: Week XII

I been saying (to myself mostly) that the main issue with refs these days is they're too old. Not quick enough, eyesight questionable, etc. I'm not sure anyone who wants to be a ref, but they need to get younger.

I wouldn’t say it’s just age.. but people don’t get just how fast this shh is going plus the size of these dudes.. asking a whole lot of anyone

But like other sports, they should have made their jobs easier

Especially when tv are getting bigger, better and cheaper.. we shouldn’t be able to easily see that a ball hits a guy and the refs gotta look on the Michael Scott tv

Eagles are going to

surprised sirianni trusted the kicker

And kicker tried to go full kicker

Good point.

Id only counter with the fact that sometimes tech can be too much...refs have gotten progressively worse over the years (anectdotel) and something as simple as spotting the ball doesn't need bells and whistles. Instant reviews have been a start.

Man all they gotta do is go talk to tennis and soccer people

And THAT shh be way more efficient than what the nfl be doing currently

I'm not ageist, but it's a common denominator. I get how fast it moves, but these dudes' eyes haven't caught up and that's not insurmountable. You can get it right, ground level...but I won't go too hard cause I get it...but if you take tech too far, **** can get annoying.

I don't have a good grasp of what it would look like, but I'm thinking as a minimalist with the technology. Goaline, yes...but do you have enough to decipher first movement of arms going over the line or will secondary movement be detected when "forward progress" should've already been ruled?...idk, really. Just would like to see it eased in, if that's the route.

I don’t like how the nba does it.. but I think there certain stuff they could have a ref away from the field just on that specific game dealing with.. like reviews shouldn’t even be on the field

But chip in the ball for correct spot and then specific stuff, like ball crossing the goal line shoildnt be a question unless a guys knee or soemthing is down prior

Saquon tearing them a new one this quarter

Been the ultimate closer for Philly this season

Barkley was close to dropping that ball before he crossed :lol

Tennis is basically baseline stuff and obviously speed of ball, asking a lot of those judges to make those calls

And soccer it’s offside calls and goals.. but biggest thing it’s quicker than the shh nfl does
